In my opinion, unless something is drastically done to revitalize this show, it is on the outs.

With the disappearance of Paula, and now Simon, along with the lackluster talent over the past few seasons, I can't understand how it will survive the ratings wars.

It's beyond me that with the hundreds of thousands of people who apply for the show, we only get "skim milk".  Yes, it's about the judges, but the show should be about the TALENT.

The same could be said about Survivor contestants.  Give us quality, fresh meat to work with here.

It will be a rocky year for them next year, but who knows...maybe it will make things fresh and interesting again.  I heard that Bret Michaels was in the running to replace Simon, and while he doesn't have Simon's snarky remarks, he has a lot of Paula's heart.  Anyone who watched Celebrity Apprentice adores him, so he might actually be a really good choice and move things in an interesting direction. I'd certainly rather see him than some stuffy record producer no one knows.

I've heard the same about Brett Michaels, Rhune.  Imo, he's a shoe in if he gets an offer.  He did a really great job when he was a judge for Nashville Star.

I didn't realize he'd been a judge on Nashville Star, but I can only see how that would help his odds.  Of all the names I've seen thrown around for the job so far, that's the first one I've felt good about hearing.  I can't imagine watching if Howard Stern were the judge or some ancient record exec that doesn't have a finger on the pulse of modern pop culture.

If Bret were a judge I might even watch an episode or two.  (I'll just turn the sound down until the song is over.)

As you can see, I'm not too fond of singing shows.  Undecided

4 years later and AI is still here, although not as strong as before. I read somewhere that for the first time Survivor beat AI in ratings.
