Kara DioGuardi
has been fired from American Idol, TMZ reports.

The show will be going back to a three-judge format and will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, according to the celebrity website.

DioGuardi's only hope to remain on the show is if the Lopez deal falls through.

The report comes hours after judge Ellen DeGeneres announced she was leaving the show.

The show's most popular and controversial host, Simon Cowell, quit the show this year after its ninth season to focus on his own reality show, "The X Factor."

I...uh...can't say I saw that one coming... I'm not totally surprised they got rid of Kara, although I thought she did a pretty good job last season in comparison to the first season. I'm a little shocked the new judges are Lopez and Tyler though...I figured Bret Michaels was a shoo in.

ellen being a judge never made sense to me

JLo and Tyler are random- not what I expected

I understand why they picked Ellen, she's kind and funny and I think they were hoping she would bring more humor to the show and be a little edgier. She was just too nice for the role they wanted. I just don't know what to think about Lopez and Tyler...maybe she's the music insider and he's edgy and witty?

I LOVE IT!

Although I had hoped for Bret, this should be a good shakeup and increase the slouchy ratings. Think about it. Who has EVER seen Steven Tyler, or JLO for that matter, do live TV? We have no idea what they are going to be like. I'd place bets that the premier with all three of them will send ratings through the roof.

But not JLo...she wants too many things and too much money. They are talking about Shania Twain instead. She was a good guest judge, so I think that would be a good pick. Now if only they would round out the panel with Bret. Cheesy
