(Sports Network) - The Toronto Maple Leafs will continue their push for the postseason in Florida when they visit the Panthers for tonights battle at BankAtlantic Center. The Maple Leafs enter today as the 10th seed in the East and are just four points behind Buffalo for the conferences eighth and final postseason berth. Toronto is trying to end the longest playoff drought in club history, as the Leafs havent qualified for the postseason since 2004. Toronto earned its latest victory Wednesday night in Raleigh, as rookie James Reimer stopped 36 shots to help the Maple Leafs take the 3-1 decision over the Hurricanes. Carolina is one place and two points ahead of Toronto in the East standings. Dion Phaneuf had two goals and an assist while Tyler Bozak scored the other goal for the Maple Leafs, who had dropped four of five coming into Wednesdays contest. "All year long Ive been saying sometimes they go and sometimes they dont," said Phaneuf. "It was nice to get a couple in tonight and help the team take a big two points." Toronto defenseman Mike Komisarek suffered a lower-body injury in Wednesdays game and is questionable for tonights contest. The Maple Leafs are 15-16-3 as the guest this year and are wrapping up a brief two-game swing tonight. The Panthers, who are seven points behind Toronto in the East standings, have lost two of three and seven of their last nine games. Florida was dealt a loss in its most recent trip to the ice, losing a 3-2 decision Tuesday night against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers. Florida led Philadelphia by a 2-1 score after one period, but Jeff Carter scored twice in the second to lift the Flyers to the win in Sunrise. Stephen Weiss and Dmitry Kulikov scored for the Panthers. Tomas Vokoun played well in the loss, stopping 28 shots. "Its the little mistakes that come back to haunt us," Panthers center Marty Reasoner said of the loss. The Panthers are 2-2-0 so far on a six-game homestand that is set to end Saturday against the New York Islanders. Florida is 14-15-7 at the BankAtlantic Center on the season. Toronto has won two of its three meetings with the Panthers this season, but Florida has taken seven of the last 11 encounters overall. The Maple Leafs have also lost two in a row and four of their last five games in Sunrise. Devils at Senators (Sports Network) - The hard-charging New Jersey Devils will try to stay hot this evening, when they visit the basement-dwelling Ottawa Senators for a battle at Scotiabank Place. The Devils have turned in an amazing second half to the season, posting a 23-3-2 record over their last 28 contests to give themselves a chance at qualifying for the postseason. With 70 points, New Jersey is tied with Atlanta for the Easts 11th seed and the duo are six points in back of Buffalo for the conferences final playoff berth. Ottawa, meanwhile, is last in the Eastern Conference with 59 points and has been relegated to a spoiler role. However, the Senators have won two of their three meetings with the Devils this season and earned a 2-1 regulation victory in New Jersey when the clubs last met on March 8. The Devils have still taken 10 of 13 overall in the series and have won five out of eight in Canadas capital city. New Jersey enters this evenings test on a three-game winning streak and the Devils were able to claim a 4-2 decision over the visiting Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday. Jacob Josefson scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period to help the Devils record their seventh win in eight games. Travis Zajac, Patrik Elias and Ilya Kovalchuk also tallied for the Devils. Martin Brodeur turned aside 18-of-20 shots to pick up the win. "This is what was expected of us this year. We were supposed to compete at a high level," Zajac said. Brodeur is expected to get the start tonight. The veteran backstop is 35-21-0 with four ties and a 2.18 goals-against average in his career against Ottawa. The Devils have won three straight on the road and have a 15-18-1 record as the guest this season. Ottawa has lost its last two games and was slammed by Pittsburgh on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game homestand. Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy both notched a goal and an assist to lead the Penguins to an easy 5-1 victory at Scotiabank Place. Ryan Shannon scored the lone goal for the Senators on Tuesday and Craig Anderson let in all five goals on 41 shots. Anderson suffered an undisclosed injury in the loss and backup Curtis McElhinney could get the start tonight. Ottawa, which will complete its residency Saturday against Tampa, has a poor 11-19-5 record as the host this season. A day after Igor Larionov told ESPN.com that hed be open to a trade from the Oilers, MacTavish accused the reporter who wrote the story of "manufacturing it" and defended the teams treatment of Yakupov. "Theres nothing changed from our perspective on Yak," MacTavish said after the NHL general managers meeting in Toronto. "The only thing I will say is that adversity in my mind is something that helps spur development. Yaks facing a little bit of adversity, but there arent too many players of that age that havent. Thats really all I have to say about it." Larionovs message to the Oilers, via ESPN.com, was to let the 20-year-old Yakupov play. The 2012 No. 1 overall pick was a healthy scratch for two games earlier in the season and is averaging 15:28 of ice time a game. "I asked Craig, I said, If you guys (are) not happy with him or you have no room for him ... were willing to make a move. Any team," Larionov told ESPN.com. "That happens and thats part of life. Lets move on.&quuot; Coach Dallas Eakins told the Edmonton Journal that Yakupov was not going anywhere, a sentiment MacTavish repeated Tuesday.dddddddddddd. Asked if Larionov might have a point about Yakupov getting a chance to play more, MacTavish voiced support for Eakins decisions. "I think Yaks been treated very fairly since hes been in our organization," he said. "We like Yak, Ive said that many times. Its a much bigger story for you people, and its becoming a bit of a distraction for us right now because were having to answer these questions. "We feel the same way about Yak as the day we drafted him. Hes a dynamic player thats going to need time to develop and get to the level that we all expect him to get to. Is it a smooth line from where he is now to what hes going to become as a player? No, theres going to be ups and downs along the way, and anybody thats been in the game for any length of time will tell you that that is the case." MacTavish said Yakupovs struggles are part of his development and that "anybody with any common sense would tell you the same thing." He then told reporters to relax and left abruptly. cheap jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
