The stepson of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein faces likely deportation after being arrested for entering the USA to take flight training without a student visa, immigration authorities said.

Mohammad Nour Al-Din Saffi, 36, was being held by the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Miami for being in violation of the Immigration Act, INS spokesman Rodney Germain said Thursday.

Germain said authorities are investigating Saffi's citizenship and his reasons for traveling to the USA. Saffi lives in New Zealand.

In Miami, an FBI spokeswoman said Saffi appears to have no connections to terrorist groups.

Authorities learned of his connection to Saddam from New Zealand authorities after his arrival in the USA. It is unclear what triggered their inquiries.
