The following are bits taken from a column written by Johy Clayton in the Kokomo (Indiana) Tribune this morning:

"According to police reports, Unser got high, got drunk and then got mean and stupid.  He had an altercation with his girlfriend after leaving the Classy Chassis, a local strip club, and left her stranded along I-465."

"By Thursday, the police were saying these charges may go away, even though Unser lied to police when they were investigating the incident.  Jena Soto, Unser's girlfriend, doesn't want to proceed with charges."

"The rumors of excessive partying and drug abuse, which were backed up by quotes from relatives on ESPN.com, have been making the rounds for years - ever since Unser's long slump began after 1994."

"The crimminal charges may go away, but Little Al's public image has taken a hit that could last two-years-to-life.  We can't look past his life off the track - and hopefuly he won't be able to either."

"Maybe this will be the hit that gives him the drive to straighten his life out.  I hope so."

Just wanted to share this with you.

It was announced this morning that no charges will be filed against Al Unser, Jr.  The woman involved did not want to pursue any charges.

At an emotional news conference following the announcement Unser said he is going into rehab for alcohol abuse immediately.

His racing sponsors do not plan on dropping him.  He hopes to be back racing by August.

Joy, I can hardly contain myself. (sarcastically)
