Todays Oprah Show was as moving as any I've ever seen on pedophiles. Very very sad to see these parents and grandparents in tormented sadness.

Oprah is now working with Sheriff's Departments.
If any of the pedophiles are captured shown on
her website, she will give $100,000 reward.
Each Friday the list will be updated.

As she stated, pedophiles CANNOT be cured and if let out of prison, which they are, they will strike again.

Until we, the American Parents, DEMAND the laws be changed, pedophiles will be out on parole again and again to rape, torture and kill.

Just this past week in the DFW area a man posed as a utility worker gained access to a woman's house, raped her, heard the 18 month old girl crying and raped her.

This is too sick for most of us to even comprehend.
It happens, be aware of your surroundings and who
is watching or talking to your little girls.

I hope Rhune will sticky this thread to the top so each Friday we can check the update on OPRAH.COM to see who the faces of these evil monsters.

The THIRD pedophile has been captured in Costa Rica.
He was identified by an Austin, Texas man who taught school with him in that country two years ago.

"I was talking with a friend who is a policeman yesterday. I was telling him about this strange customer we had come into our shop. I told him that he gave me the creeps, and I felt bad for judging him by his looks, but that I thought he looked like a pedophile. He asked me what it is that made me feel that way. I told him it was the way that the man was dressed. He had on a work shirt but was wearing sweatpants. Between the sweat pant which I thought was strange for a tow truck driver, and his mannerisms, he just gave me the creeps.

Well, it turns out that sweatpants or pants that go on and off quickly and easily are a common trait in pedophiles. He told me that it was interesting that I caught on to that trait. So maybe it is true that 1st impression mean a lot. Especially in the case of this gentleman which I would not be around by myself nor would I allow any small children near him. I could be wrong, but people should listen to their gut. It is important. "

this is very disturbing of course. I hope that we can change the laws in Canada too. WE have Too many situations of pedophiles being released into federal half way facilities all over Canada in neighbourhoods where we don't even know they are until it is too late. Seems I found out after buying our home that there is one such federal facility only 2 blocks from my home. It terrifies me. They like to put the deviant men there because it is close the local psychiatric hospital (close meaning only about 5 miles away and so they group them there!! oh it makes me burn up.

FARGO, North Dakota (AP) -- The same week Oprah Winfrey began devoting time on her show to tracking down sex offenders, she has an arrest to show for it.

William C. Davis, 33, of Wadesville, Indiana, was arrested in Fargo on Thursday, two days after the talk-show host broadcast his face and offered $100,000 for information leading to his capture.

Jean Rosenthal of Moorhead, Minnesota, recognized Davis as "Mark," a neighbor of her friend Karie Miller. She called Miller on Wednesday, and the 29-year-old Fargo deli worker discovered the man's identity Thursday morning on a Web site.

"His picture came up and I started shaking so bad, I couldn't hold my coffee," Miller told The Forum of Fargo in Friday editions.

Davis, who was on the FBI's Most Wanted Fugitives list, was one of several fugitive sex offenders shown on Winfrey's program Tuesday. The reward, offered by her production company, applies to fugitives presented on the show and on its Web site.

Davis faces felony charges of molesting three Indiana boys last year and failing to register as a sex offender. He was convicted of child molestation in 1992.

Davis, arrested by FBI agents, was in jail, awaiting an extradition hearing to return to Indiana.

Karie Miller was in shock after learning of her neighbor's background. She had helped care for him since he broke his leg in a car accident a few weeks ago.

"I've been cooking for him; I've been doing his laundry," she said.

This is wonderful news indeed!!!! I wonder, since so many TV series have spin offs, maybe there could be an "America's Most Wanted, SVU". Or all the television shows could end each program with photos and statistics of these scumbags and who to call. It would be wonderful to round them all up.

I would be shaking too if I had been taking care of my neighbour only to discover he was on the most wanted list. thank goodness this has worked so quickly to capture two on the list.

I hope many more are arrested and I agree that it would be good to see more resources given to getting these people OFF the streets, out of our neighbourhoods.

I think Oprah is wonderful and she is doing such a great thing. I really think the laws need to be cahnged inregards to child molesters! I think if everyone every where stood up to fight these MONSTERS then we might get some where. These "people" should have NO rights what so ever. They make me SICK. I was sexually abused as a child by my stepfather. Recently i have been able to tell my family and charges were put on this man. I just now have been going through the pretrail. I was on the stand for ten hours over two days. NINE of which were cross examination. I was screamed at, belittled, and treated like crap. I am not the one in the wrong he is. His lawyer even said to me that i CHOSE to have this happen to me. I dont think ANY victim should have to go through this it is wrong. People hear about child molesters and they get mad but most people dont do anything. I love Oprah for what she has done i really do. I think all of these people need to be put behind bars and NEVER NEVER let out. I now have to wait for my real trail date to come up. As i wait i have to try to be a normal member of the world and its so hard. This affects so much and so many people dont understand. Victims need better rights. They should NOT be treated the way i was a few days ago on the stand. Not at all. They are the ones who have done nothing wrong. I child can NEVER chose to be molested by an adult. The adult is the one who choses and once they make that choice they should never ever have a right again NEVER.

This is one topic so close to me. Thank you oprah for what you are doing. And i think its great people are talking about it. Maybe we can change things for the next person

This week in the Ft Myers area a registered sex offender has been discovered working as a janitor in a local grade school.
There was supposed to have been a background check, but everone is blaming everyone else for this oversight!
He has been fired,but I wonder how much harm he has done!

Former scout leader William George Barney is a repeat offender charged with crimes dating back to 1988. After being charged with sexually abusing six young boys in California, Barney pled guilty to one count of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and served less than 12 months in jail. A few years later, Barney moved to Las Vegas where he allegedly seduced his next young victim. The child said Barney molested him as many as three times a day for six years. When the boy finally told police his terrible secret, Barney vanished before Nevada authorities could question him.

William George Barney's life on the lam recently came to an unexpected halt after one of his friends discovered his identity. ť

Roberto Sanchez, a resident of Ensenada, Mexico, was at an Internet cafe when he happened to come upon a familiar face online, a man he knew as "Bill." Roberto says he met Bill Barney two years ago and they grew close. Roberto saw his American friend several times a week, but Barney revealed little about his past.

"He [seemed] like a normal guy," Roberto says. "Like [any] retired guy in Ensenada."

Roberto says Barney mostly kept to himself, but some of his friend's behavior struck him as strangeespecially the fact, he says, that Barney had young men over to his house in the evenings.

As soon as Roberto realized Barney's true identity, he contacted the FBI, who, in turn, contacted Mexican authorities. Within 48 hours, Barney was captured. After five years on the lam, Barney was returned to the United States to stand trial.

Jan Caldwell, a Special Agent with the FBI, thanks Oprah viewers for Barney's capture. "This is a man that very well might have gone underneath the radar for the rest of his life," she says, "and we have him off the streets. Children are safe now."

Roberto gets his reward. ť

Now Oprah gets to keep her promise! Roberto Sanchez, the man responsible for bringing William George Barney to justice, tears up when Oprah announces his $100,000 reward. "What a gift you've given to the children of Mexico," she tells Roberto. "We're all very grateful to you".

Ex-Con Denied Bond in S.C. 'Dungeon' Rapes
Sunday, March 19, 2006

COLUMBIA, S.C. A local magistrate denied bond Saturday for a convicted rapist charged with abducting two teenage girls and assaulting them in an underground room behind his home.

Kenneth G. Hinson was captured Friday evening after a four-day manhunt in the woods around his Darlington County neighborhood, about 20 miles northwest of Florence.

County Magistrate Deatrice Curtis denied bond on charges of criminal sexual assault, kidnapping and assault and battery with intent to kill.

The two 17-year-old girls had been sleeping in a nearby home late Monday when Hinson, 47, allegedly kidnapped each girl and assaulted her in a room under a shed on his property, police said. The girls were left bound inside the room but managed to wriggle free and walk to safety.

At Saturday's hearing, Darlington County Chief Deputy Tom Gainey described the room's dire conditions, saying "we have found no space that would have supplied any air supply while they were in that compartment."

Hinson said little during the hearing, but he seemed taken with the interest in his case. When informed that he would be having a second bond hearing on a charge of first-degree burglary, Hinson asked: "Will we have this much media there too?"

Local, state and federal authorities had been searching for Hinson since Tuesday. On Friday, he showed up a the back door of a relative's home and asked for water, authorities said. The relative gave it to him, then called 911.

Hinson, who was carrying a loaded handgun, was quickly arrested.

Neighbors said Saturday they were relieved Hinson was in custody.

"I slept good last night," said Argeree Cooks, who lives with her four grandchildren just down the street from Hinson's property. She said she had been sleeping with a hammer and a gun within reach all week.

In 1991, Hinson had been convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl. Just before his release from prison in 2000, a review committee recommended he be committed indefinitely to a Department of Mental Health facility for treatment. But Circuit Judge Edward Cottingham rejected the recommendation, saying prosecutors failed to show that Hinson would likely offend again.

Cottingham said Friday he did not remember the specific case but said state law requires prosecutors to show probable cause that the person will commit another sexual assault.

"Obviously I regret that these young children were raped by this man," he said.

She may be Overexposed, but what she's doing here is a wonderful thing, and something that's actually working. It's your right to criticize Oprah, but it seems short sighted to criticize her on the one subject where she's genuinely making a difference for our children.

I say her money that's been languishing in a bank account until now is being put to good use here, the kind of use I would want to see it put to. I don't really care if she's doing it for exposure, personal gain, personal gratification, or revenge (being a molested child herself). Her motivation isn't as important to me as her results.

The world needs less pedafiles, I say good for her.

Gary Lee St. John is accused of preying on his two step-granddaughters and their friend. In 1998, his 12-year-old step-granddaughter came forward, claiming St. John fondled her and forced her to touch his genitals during frequent summer fishing trips in California. The girl's friend also claimed that during one of those trips she, too, was molested. Then, his 6-year-old step-granddaughter told her mom that St. John had molested her at his Nevada home.

St. John was charged with 28 felony counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child in Californiaenough to put him away for life. In Nevada, he was charged with sexual assault and lewdness with a child under 14. St. John posted $60,000 bail. Nearly 10 years ago, St. John vanished on Thanksgiving Day.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- A tip from a Canadian resident ended Richard Steve Goldberg's stint on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, and the alleged child molester is now awaiting extradition, the bureau said.

According to the Web site for the television show, "America's Most Wanted," Goldberg had been seeing a nonprofit counselor under the alias Terry Wayne Kearns. He allegedly told the counselor he was an American fugitive, but the charges against him were "trumped up," the Web site said.

The counselor told a friend, who found Goldberg on the FBI Web site, according to "America's Most Wanted."

The 61-year-old former engineer had been on the run for six years after he was charged in 2001 with producing child pornography, two counts of possessing child pornography and six counts of performing lewd acts on a child, the FBI said. He also faces unlawful flight charges.

Authorities in Long Beach, California, say Goldberg engaged in sexual acts with girls younger than 10 for five months in 2001. Authorities also allege they found images of the sex acts on Goldberg's computer, a federal crime.

"Goldberg gained the trust of [neighborhood] parents and then befriended their children. He entertained the girls by allowing them to play with his pets, watch television and use his computer to play games. Some of these girls also took short trips with him," according to the June 2002 FBI news release announcing Goldberg's inclusion on the most-wanted list.

The president of a gun club in Long Beach, California, Goldberg was considered armed and dangerous, according to the FBI.

Goldberg was captured in Montreal, Quebec, early Saturday after the tip from Canada, said Long Beach Police Chief Anthony Batts and J. Stephen Tidwell, assistant FBI director in Los Angeles.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Montreal Police Service arrested Goldberg without incident for violating Canadian immigration laws, the statement said.

Canadian authorities are holding Goldberg on the immigration violation. He is scheduled to be in court Monday.

Goldberg is expected to be extradited to the United States to face the California and federal charges, Tidwell and Batts said.

A reward of up to $100,000 had been offered for information leading directly to Goldberg's arrest. The FBI news release did not mention the reward.
