Coming from a Canadian-Filipino I am DISGUSTED. How dare they say that you can't eat that way here? Hello! This is CANADA! Canada the country that says "Look at us! So many different cultures come here!" Are they also saying "Oh by the way, just make sure you do everything the way we do okay?" Canada allowed gay marriage but they're not allowing some kid to eat with a SPOON AND FORK!?! What is WRONG with these people? I eat the same as that kid sometimes. Every Filipino I know eats that way. It's PROPER. It's not disgusting. Those school officials couldn't last in any other country with their "Our eating habits are more refined than your eating habits" mentality. Why couldn't the lunch lady say, "Hey, that's the way you eat in the Philippines? That's different." or something instead of saying "That's WRONG! Don't eat that way! Heaven forbid you be different from us Canadians!"

Okay, I'm done ranting (although I could go on forever.).

Oh yeah, the knife case is very different. There is a potential for danger on that one, but there isn't with the whole spoon and fork thing.

Well the ceremonial knife case was very different from this case because that involved religion. Also everyone uses forks to eat but it's not everyday someone brings a knife to school.

I think that this incident doesn't apply to all canadian. I live in the West Island and I'm about 10 inutes away from Roxboro. My elementary embraced different cultures even though my school was mostly anglophone. I am disappointed at this school though and I hope the rest of the world realizes that not all Montrealers and Canadians are like that lunch lady and school.
