Question: Do you eat Jalepenos?

Every Day?
Every Week?
Twice a Month?
Once a Month?
A few Times a Year?
Occasionally?
I Tried them once, hated it!
I tried them once, love them!
I've never eaten one!
What the heck is a Jalepeno?

This Garden Chile is a Texas Favorite, used in many recipes.  We love the Jalepenos stuffed with crab meat, then deep fried!
They make my eyelids perspire, but I don't care, they are worth the soon forgotten burning as it goes down my throat!
Men Love them RAW!  TEXAS Men, that is!

How about the rest of you?

ACK!  I lived in Texas and couldn't get used to them.  Roll Eyes

In college, in North Carolina back when Mexican restaurants were few and far between, my date took me to one.  As an appetizer, we tried tortilla chips with these little "pickles" on them.  OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!  The fire department could not have stopped the burning in my mouth!

That was my first and last experience with jalepenos.

BTW, Luci, when I lived in Ft. Worth, there was a restaurant there and also in Las Colinas (Irving) that I loved called "Mercado Juarez."  Are you familiar with that restaurant?  Is it a franchise in Texas?

:laff: .....from your first reply   :laff:

Absolutely, Mercado Juarez is on Hwy #114 and we used to go there often, but haven't been in a while.  I love their restaurant for it serves different kinds of Mexican Cusine that one isn't offered at others.

Fire Department, huh?    :laff:

I'm not much for jalapenos...I'm a little too wussy for them.  Although, in moderation they can be tasty...unfortunately, not everybody is on the same page with me when it comes to moderation.... Wink

Never tried them. I do not like spicy foods! I was in Leeds for a year and I went to different Indian restuarants... don't ever ask for a 5 spice curry. It's so hot! My mouth was in dire need of a fire department... much like Rupertydupe! A one is a sufficient number for curry in England!

Lake!  TMI!  TMI!  :laff:

Luci, what I like so much about Mercado Juarez is the ambience:  the mariachis, the gift shop, the decor, the food...

Cry I just got a little homesick for Texas!

Jalepenos?  No, non, nada.........can't tolerate them at all.  Yes, I live in Texas, but I was born in Wisconsin.   It came as a shock when I learned about peppers that are hotter than jalepenos.   Why would you do that to yourself?  Once I tasted them, and I couldn't taste anything else for 3 days.

I LOVE Indian food, but may be that's just because Kaizan knows I hate spicy food and altered it for me... Smiley

Ok, I chose "What the heck is a jalapeño?". Although I think I saw one of 'em in a food show, I still haven't touched/smell/tasted it. But we have our own spicy foods here, thank you very much. Maybe I'll try a jalapeño in the future. Smiley

Jaypee, jalapenos are extremely spicy, hot peppers used in Mexican cuisine.

If I'm not mistaken, and Luci can correct me on this, I think it's the seeds of the jalapeno that are the hot part.
