Posting Reminder
« on: Feb 2nd, 2006, 5:43pm »

With new seasons of Survivor and Amazing Race about to start it's time to remind everyone that on the night that an episode airs, who was kicked off is still considered a "spoiler" until midnight eastern time zone. That is when CBS updates their website and it becomes public knowledge and can be posted about in the Gossip sections.  At no point in any forum should a spoiler be posted in the title/subject of a tread.

Thank you all for your cooperation!

I'm guessing that includes spoiler section also?

No racedude, the spoiler section is for just that.  To spoil anything, anytime!

Just not the other sections I believe.

Well, some people like me might like to know location spoilers or twists but not be revealed to the outcome. So I think it IS a good idea to keep the spoiler outa the topic... Example making a topic titled FREDDY AND KENDRA WIN would be somithing that i would not want to see... but making one a title that says I KNOW WHO WINS is okay...

Yeah I definitely do not wanna know who wins or gets kicked out before I even watch the show. There was once my friend came running to me telling me that FREDDY AND KENDRA WON TAR 6 and I hadn't watched it yet! I was going nuts at that time 'cause I really wanted Kris and Jon to win. And I realise I'm going out of topic... Heh.

I think people should always tread caution when going to the spoiler section because nothing is assured.

Besides, most of the location spoilers is already out in the media articles already and aren't considered spoilers.  For example, TV guide lists a bunch of new locations, and press releases from CBS themself reveal locations so they aren't spoilers either.

I would say don't look in the spoiler thread if you dont want to know what happens. If you don't want to know who is eliminated don't go on the spoiler thread between the end of the east coast and end of pacific coast. (what like 3 hours?) ... Once the episode has aired on the Pacific coast and CBS has updated the webage (usually relatively soon after the PST episode) it is not a spoiler and can be put in the General Forums anyways. So if you are watching it the next day then you'll have to avoid the TAR threads all together..

Am I correct in understanding that after the PST episode has aired it is no longer a spoiler??

No, your still wrong though... Some people want to know certain spoilers but not know others.. There are some who might want to know F3 but not who wins the whole thing... I think it would just be better if in the topic title you say what kind of spoiler it is like... WINNER OF TAR6 REVEALED... rather then FREDDY AND KENDRA WIN.... So then certain people like me who go there for other spoilers aren't spoiled.

Heres a perfect example... The mods have to go in there reguardless of if they want to or not because they have to mod that section... If there going there to close a topic but don't want to be spoiled they shouldn't have to be spoiled unless they click ont hat topic so i think that all spoiler contents should be int he thread not the Title.

What I want to know from a moderator is if I understood the whole PST thing correctly.

The East coast watches TAR at 9pm EST (6PST). Everything that is posted regarding TAR after the East coast has aired, but before the Pacific Coast is spoiler (logical) so MUST be put in the Spoiler thread if we want to discuss it.

However, after the Pacific Coast has aired/CBS has updated the webage, it is okay for everyone to post about the episode in the General Forums since it is no longer considered a spoiler (as it is common knowledge)... Correct?

I would just not go to spoilers between the three hours when the episode has aired on the east coast before the pacific airing (in 2 hour episodes it would be 2 hours) but that is just me.

Now Question: Once the episode has aired on the East coast/website is updated, is it okay to put (ex) Uchenna and Joyce winners of TAR7 in the title of any forum, since its no longer a spoiler?

I will say 'Yes' to this. Even if it's placed in the spoiler forum, a thread with the title "Susan and Patrick are eliminated!" shows up at the bottom part of the main page of this forum, in the Forum Statistics box, if a person posted there.

example (what I see right now)
Total Topics: 11994   -   Total Posts: 179113
Last Updated Topic: Likes/Dislikes (Today at 11:35am)

Imagine if you see there

Last Updated Topic: Tina wins Survivor!!! (Today at 11:35am)

So even if that thread was in a spoiler forum, you still spoiled it to anyone who saw it.

I'll try to start a discussion thread in the spoiler forum for every leg where we can immediately discuss recently aired episodes.

Psycho Pericles, the previous mod, told me about not spoiling anything in the title.
