Sorry Amarillo, but you didn't meet the deadline.   Sad This episode is long, but you guys like it anyway. Smiley

JUMPING TO GERMANY

Chris and Molly, the first team to arrive on the first leg, opened their clue to find they’d be driving back to Berne. Once there, they’d have to sign up for a charter bus, which would take them to Berlin, Germany. Sarah and Martin and James and Justine were close behind. Later, Kari and Tina and Allen and Rose were also on the road.

Chris and Molly successfully arrived at the bus station to find that the buses were two hours apart each. “We got a four hour lead over the teams in the back,” Molly said as she wrote the teams name on the first slot. Sarah and Martin, James and Justine, and Allen and Rose also signed up. Only two more spaces were available. “Kari and Tina don’t seem to be here,” Martin said. “Which is great because they’re strong competitors. I hope they’re really lost because if we could get a two hour lead over them that would be great.”

MEMORY, TURN YOUR FACE TO THE HIGHWAY

Nikos and Sofia left the Pit Stop next. Tim and Gary also departed. As they left, Sofia said that she remembered the way back to Berne. Nikos doubted her, but decided to give it a try. With Sofia directing, the grandparents successfully made it to the bus station. They signed up on the first bus. “We might not be the strongest,” Nikos said, “but we sure know our way around.” Kari and Tina meanwhile had just arrived in Berne. As they searched for the bus station, they saw Tim and Gary’s car. “We really need to pick up the pace!” Tina said, as they continued hunting for the station. Tim and Gary however found the station quickly. They took the last spot on the first bus.

Kari and Tina soon found the station, upset as they signed up for the second bus. “This sucks,” Tina said. Grace and Lisa, AJ and Brent, and Ned and Matthew also joined them on the second bus.

TURTLING ALONG

The four remaining teams also signed up, each of them forced on the last bus. “Not surprised,” Caryn said. “We’ll just keep going. With luck, we might beat some teams ahead of us.” Meanwhile, Janie and Rebecca secretly got the other Turtles together and they went out to buy maps of Germany. “We won’t beat the other teams in the brawn department,” Janie said, “so we need to think smart.” Ned and Matthew however were suspicious. “I don’t know what they’re doing,” Ned said, “but I’m not liking it.”

MY BEST FRIEND DEWEY DECIMAL

The first bus left. The teams arrived and got their next clue, informing them they’d be taking a taxi to the Berlin State Library. Sarah and Martin got a taxi quickly. “Berlin State Library,” Sarah said. The taxi driver asked them a question in German. “Um, can you speak English?” Martin asked. The taxi driver shook his head. “We’re lost.”

Tim and Gary also got a cab. James and Justine were next. “Follow that cab up there,” Justine ordered. “They’re going were we want to go.” Tim looked behind him. “They’re following us,” he said. “That’s kinda funny.” Allen and Rose and Nikos and Sofia each found a taxi, leaving Chris and Molly without a cab. “We don’t know why we can’t get a taxi,” Chris said, “it’s like they have some vendetta against us.” “We should just call for one,” Molly said. “That would take too long,” Chris said, striking down Molly’s idea.

THE LIBRARY IS A PLACE OF ORDER…. SOMETIMES…

Sarah and Martin’s cab arrived at the library first. They hurried inside to find the next clue – a Detour and a Fast Forward. The Fast Forward required them to search ten shelves of books for the one book with the Fast Forward pass. “We can try it,” Martin said. The team began taking books off the marked shelves. “Put them back, Sarah, so the other teams don’t know which we’ve gone through,” Martin suggested.

Tim and Gary and James and Justine also arrived. “Fast Forward,” Tim said, “We’re doing it!” James and Justine looked at the task. “Too many teams are on it,” Justine said, “We’ll just do this Detour.” The Detour was Transport Painting or Transport People. In Transport Painting, teams would pick up a painting from Alte Nationalgalerie to the Altes Museum. The catch is teams must first find the correct painting. Choosing the wrong painting could prove costly. In Transport People, teams use the U-Bahn to travel to different places in the city. In each place, they will find a person with a yellow and red t-shirt. That person will tell them a place in the city they wish to go to. Using the U-Bahn, they will get off at the correct station. If they stop on the correct station they get a ticket. After collecting five tickets, they may turn them in for the next clue.

“We know art,” Justine said. “The Painting one. We’re going with that.” Allen and Rose and Nikos and Sofia then arrived. “We are not going for the Fast Forward,” Rose said. They then looked over the options and chose the Transport Painting detour. Nikos and Sofia decided to chance the Fast Forward. “It could go terrible,” Nikos said, “but we need to take risks or we’ll never get ahead.”

JUST KEEP SEARCHING

Chris and Molly found the library and chose to save their Fast Forward. “The main reason we chose the Painting detour,” Molly explained, “was we can’t speak German. And we had a good feeling that speaking German would be required in the People task.”

At the gallery, James and Justine looked at their clues. It was a recent composition by an art student in the city. It showed a German landmark. “There, that one,” James said. They took it. “We didn’t even know what it was,” Justine recounted. “But it had six German flags on it so we thought, go with it.” Allen and Rose arrived at the Alte Nationalgalerie next and began searching the gallery. They found a few new paintings, but weren’t sure which was a famous German landmark. Chris and Molly made up time by reaching the museum quickly and joined the married couple in looking.

“Do you want to go?” Sarah asked Martin at the Fast Forward. “No,” Martin said, pulling down more books. The three teams continued searching. “We haven’t seen anything yet,” Tim said. “We hope we don’t look stupid after this.”

BUS TWO

The second bus carrying Grace and Lisa, AJ and Brent, Ned and Matthew, and Kari and Tina arrived in the city. They caught taxis to the library. “We hope we can beat some of those leading teams,” Grace said. As they went to the library, Kari and Tina ran into trouble when the cab driver took a wrong turn and the boxers didn’t realize it. “It sure is far,” Tina remarked.

Ned and Matthew and AJ and Brent arrived neck and neck. Both quickly dismissed the Fast Forward. “This People one is going to be a waste of time,” Matthew said. “What did the Vikings choose?” AJ asked, using his nickname for the high school football coaches. “If you want to do the same one, we can follow them and just do the same thing,” Brent said. “Okay, let’s do it,” AJ said. “We don’t have anything against the Vikings,” AJ said. “It’s just that they’re big and scary and not too bright.”

Grace and Lisa arrived and chose to Transport People. “We hope we made the right choice,” Lisa said as they left.

DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER

Back at the Fast Forward, Gary picked up a book with an unusual title – The Pit Stop is the Hotel Romatik in the Black Forest. Gary quietly picked it out and showed Tim who looked at it with wide eyes. Gary handed it to the librarian who nodded and handed them the clue. “You got it,” the librarian said. “NO!” Sarah said, pounding the bookshelf. “We did all that for nothing!” Nikos and Sofia quickly chose the Transport People option and rushed out, with Sarah and Martin running behind. Tim and Gary opened the Fast Forward and hurried to find the best way there.

Back at the Painting Detour, James and Justine successfully brought the painting and were pleased to get the next clue. They opened it to find a Roadblock. “Who’s ready to wait for their clue?” Justine said. “We thought it was an endurance task, so we got James to do it,” Justine said. “But… it was actually a task were you had to serve tables. I should have done it.” They found they’d have to find a marked café in Prenzlauer Berg and serve five tables to get their next clue.

TROUBLE IS A WOMAN NAMED JUSTINE

As they left, they passed Chris and Molly on the road. Justine saw them and decided to shake things up a bit. “That’s the wrong painting guys,” Justine said. “You need to go back.” James and Justine got in a taxi and headed off. Chris and Molly looked at their painting. “This is the Reichstag, it’s a German landmark,” Chris said. “I don’t see…” “Unless, they’re lying,” Molly said. Allen and Rose meanwhile overtook the brother/sister pair as they were debating on the road and received their clue, choosing Rose for the Roadblock. Chris and Molly decided to go with their painting and got their clue. “James and Justine,” Chris said. “Wouldn’t it just be terrible if someone decided to Yield them?” “Chris!” Molly said, laughing.

Ned and Matthew reached the museum with AJ and Brent in tow. The two searched the museum. AJ and Brent split off from Ned and Matthew and quickly found the painting. “We found a good use for the Vikings,” AJ said laughing. “You follow them and then when you get to a task requiring intelligence, you pass them!” They took the painting and hurried off to the next museum where they got the next clue. “Roadblock,” Brent said. “I did the last one. You got to do this one.”

FINDING MY WAY

Kari and Tina finally arrived at the library after being lead the wrong direction for thirty minutes. They looked at the options. “We know nothing about art,” Tina said. The two went for the People option. Nikos and Sofia were using their charm to get information out of people on the U-Bahn. They arrived at their first station and got off, along with Sarah and Martin and the sisters-in-law. The teams soon found an unforeseen difficulty. They’d have to wait for the train to come back and pick them up. “This may take longer they we thought,” Grace said, wincing.

James and Justine’s cab took them to Prenzlauer Berg and they then looked for the café. With luck, they spotted it. They told their cab to wait for them as James began the Roadblock. There was quite a bit of business and James took the orders quickly. “He’s doing better than I thought,” Justine said. Soon they got their clue. “Pit Stop! Hotel Romantik in the Black Forest.” “Why is the Pit Stop always so far from everything else?” James asked as they got back in their cab.

Allen and Rose were in Prenzlauer Berg and began hunting for the café. Chris and Molly stopped their cab when they were in the area and began searching on foot. Allen and Rose got into trouble when they lost their bearings in the cab and no longer knew what area they were in.  “Can you just drive to any cafes you know are in this are?” Rose asked the driver. AJ and Brent’s taxi found Prenzlauer Berg quickly. “If you see a café, honk okay?” AJ said. “Dude, if he did that, he’d get arrested,” Brent said.

FAST FORWARD TO FIRST

Tim and Gary’s taxi stopped in front of the Hotel Romantik. “Danke,” Tim said. The two jogged to the mat to see Phil’s smiling face. “Tim and Gary. You are team number ONE!” As the winners, they also won a trip to the Maldives for a diving adventure. “Fast Forwards rock!” Gary shouted.

Much later, James and Justine ran to the Pit Stop, team number two. “That was one awesome leg!” Justine said. “We gotta keep this up!”

DETOURS

Ned and Matthew found the correct painting and transported it to get their next clue. “We should’ve gone faster,” Ned said. “We need to pick up the pace.” Back at the People detour, the commuters each team had picked up had to go to different stations. Thus, each team ended up breaking off. Kari and Tina arrived and got into the mix. As the teams got on and off at different stations, it became hard to figure out who was ahead and who was going where. “I hope we’re ahead,” Nikos said, “but we could be last! We have no idea.” As Nikos hoped, they were first to finish that detour and they redeemed their clue. Sarah and Martin managed to get the next clue as well. Grace and Lisa were falling farther and farther behind. Twice they had stopped at the wrong station. “Just get a different person,” Lisa said frustrated. “No, we might be close,” Grace said. Kari and Tina worked as team finding information and were making up ground.

BUS THREE

The bus, which Janie nicknamed the Turtle Express had already arrived. The four Turtle teams made their way to the library. Caryn and Melody quickly chose the People detour and sped off. As they left, the other three teams came. They picked up clues and then Janie piped up, “Hey, guys, if we pick the same one we can all help each other.” “The Painting one will be easy to help each other with,” Tamara pointed out. “Okay,” Boris said. The three teams got back in their taxis to go to the museum. “Caryn and Melody are somewhere,” Zeke said, shrugging. “We’re hoping they get last because I’m not convinced this is a good idea. I think Janie and Rebecca are kinda insane for wanting to do everything with us.”

CAFÉ DAYS

Allen and Rose found the café. As Rose began, Chris and Molly arrived on foot. “Where’s your cab?” Allen asked Chris. “We left it,” Chris said. He added jokingly, “We plan on stealing yours!” “I’d like to see that,” Allen said, shaking his head. To both teams’ surprise, AJ and Brent then arrived. “How are they are?” Chris asked. AJ ran and began the Detour. “Be aggressive AJ!” Brent shouted.

AJ, Molly, and Rose were caught in a race to see who could get to the customer first. Molly and AJ were able to score some extra tables for being attractive and efficient. They soon ran into a problem. All the customers were served. AJ and Molly both had four tables done, while Rose was left with three. A group of three guys entered the café. “AJ, get ‘em,” Brent said, nodding his head furiously. “Go!” AJ hurried to show them to a seat, while Molly bit her lip. “Not so good,” Molly said. Another group entered and Rose quickly snatched them, leaving Molly waiting for a customer. AJ was having fun with his customers all of whom turned out to be gay. “I didn’t know I had so much appeal,” AJ said, laughing. “One of them asked for my phone number. I kinda felt bad that I couldn’t give it to him, you know. I was hoping for a group of hot blonde babes, but the guys were cute too, I’ll give ‘em that.”

AJ picked up his clue and waved goodbye to the group. “My little charmer,” Brent said, trying not to laugh as he opened the clue. “Travel to the Hotel Romantik…” Suddenly, AJ started busting out laughing. “I’m sorry… but that is just… this is just hilarious.” “Get in the cab, boy,” Brent said, spanking AJ as he got in.

As business picked up, Rose and Molly finished the Roadblock. The two teams then headed for the Hotel Romantik. Allen and Rose got in their cab, while Chris and Molly were left to find a way there. They soon found a taxi driver who was very knowledgeable about that area. He helped the brother sister duo make up ground, taking side routes.

SO ROMANTIK

Phil and the greeter watched as a taxi stopped in front of the hotel. Phil looked at the eager pair. “Chris and Molly. You are team number three.” The next two teams arrived. “AJ and Brent, you are team number four.” “Allen and Rose, you are team number five.”

In the meantime, Kari and Tina finished the Detour. Grace and Lisa completed the People detour shortly after, although not impressed with their slow finish time. “Lisa and I are really not getting along,” Grace said. “I wish we could, but our personality differences are magnified one hundred times on this race.”

ROADBLOCK TROUBLE

Ned and Matthew began the Roadblock and were faced with a completely empty café. Sarah and Martin joined them in the empty room. Nikos and Sofia were nowhere to be seen. Customers arrived and Martin and Matthew began jockeying for customers, with Martin clearly doing a better job. Matthew did not know what he was supposed to do, resulting in slow service.

TURTLE PACK

At the museum, Jonathan correctly identified the right painting. All three teams took the painting. At this point, Zeke and Tamara ran as fast as they could ahead of the other two teams who walked side by side. Zeke and Tamara got their clue and tried to increase their lead further.

Boris and Jonathan arrived next, followed by Janie and Rebecca. Caryn and Melody were on their third ticket on the People detour. “We are doing really well,” Melody said. “I think we made the right choice.” Caryn nodded in agreement. Eventually, they finished, but were behind the other Turtle teams.

WAITING FOR A CLUE

Martin finished the Roadblock and he and Sarah headed for the Hotel Romantik. Grace and Lisa made up ground. Kari and Tina and Nikos and Sofia also arrived. Matthew tried to do better, but still didn’t understand the process. Grace began stealing some of Matthew’s customers in an effort to finish faster. Matthew was none-the-wiser. As the day progressed, Grace finished the Roadblock. Matthew finally finished as well. Kari and Sofia also completed the task.

As the teams raced to the Hotel Romantik, Zeke and Tamara arrived at the Roadblock, which Tamara did. Tamara was on her third table when Jonathan and Rebecca arrived. “Where’s Caryn and Melody?” Rebecca asked. Tamara was silent, while Jonathan continued working. Tamara finished and got the clue. Rebecca and Janie conferred. “Do you want to keep going?” Rebecca asked. “Caryn and Melody aren’t here.”

END GAME

Teams began checking in to the Hotel Romantik. Sarah and Martin were team number five. Grace and Lisa were team number six. Kari and Tina were team seven, Nikos and Sofia were team eight. Ned and Matthew, whose taxi driver got lost, were team number ten.

Jonathan got his clue when Caryn and Melody arrived. Melody began working on the Roadblock. “Okay, they’re here,” Janie said. “You can go now.” “Hey, Melody!” Rebecca said. “We’re going to do it so that we’ll alternate between customers. Okay?” Melody’s jaw dropped. “Um… okay, great,” Melody said. She continued working like normal. Melody finished before Rebecca. Both teams headed to the Pit Stop. “I don’t get it,” Janie said. “It seems like all the Turtles don’t like us.”

Zeke and Tamara were ahead, but had difficulty when their cab ran out of gas. “This is so not fair,” Tamara said. “Please just shut up, Tam, there’s nothing we can do about it,” Zeke said. Boris and Jonathan came by and stopped to help. “Do you need help?” Jonathan asked. Zeke decided to take advantage of the situation. “Yeah, it turns out we were going the wrong way, we’re waiting to see if we can get some directions before we go on,” Zeke said. “Oh,” Boris said. “Should we wait?” “Yes, definitely,” Zeke said. “It’d be better to wait for a few minutes than end up hours behind, you know?”

Caryn and Melody and Janie and Rebecca headed to the pitstop with no problems at all. Caryn and Melody found the mat first to check in as team number eleven. Janie and Rebecca were team number twelve. Meanwhile, Zeke and Tamara were waiting patiently for the gas. Soon, a service man came and re-fueled their car. Jonathan pulled him aside and asked if they were going the right way. The service man said that they were in fact going the right way. The two looked at the dating couple in spite. “That is low,” Jonathan said, fuming as they got in the car. The two taxis raced to the Hotel Romantik. Zeke and Tamara were ahead by just a little bit. As the taxis stopped, it was a race to the mat. Jonathan reached the mat first, followed by Zeke. Boris was well ahead of Tamara, however he slipped on the way and tumbled to the ground. Tamara ran faster and landed on the mat. “Zeke and Tamara. You are team number thirteen.” “YES!” Zeke said, hugging Tamara. “Boris and Jonathan, you are the last team to arrive. I’m sorry to say you have been eliminated from the race.”

“We trusted Zeke and Tamara. That’s why we lost,” Jonathan said simply. “They are underhanded and play this game with no respect. It’ll get them later.” “I’m glad we came here,” Boris said as the two left. “This was a fun time. I could’ve gone longer. We were a good team.”
