Just briefly tell us what happened in school today?

School was pretty pleasant today, had Maths, Chinese Literature, Geography and General Paper tutorials.

I think this was the only one day which i didn't even fall asleep in a single lesson, took down notes throughout the lesson and was extremely attentive.

Yay to that. :laff:

I have no classes today. Or so as I think. I missed my CWTS class today. I am just so tired and had a burnout. I have been experiencing flu for the past five days. Not to mention, the iffy feeling of sneezing and coughing.

I came to college at 8 because I thought I had an 8 o clock class. But I didn't. I had College Study Skills from 10-12, Introduction to Communication and Human Behavior at 2-4, and Media History and Law from 4-6. Smiley

Since Raymond and I were classmates (except in Electives, I took up Filipino Journalism), today was generally fine. I was not supposed to have an afternoon class because my math (only subject for the afternoon) teacher was supposedly away, but, behold. There IS a Math class. We had a seatwork and it was simply terrible.

But Raymond was the FIRST to finish it!!! Math OVERLORD! Tongue

I was able to finish it about TEN minutes after him, but I highly doubted one of my answers.

Oh well, today was a day in school I barely felt sleeping. But I slept at the car on the way home. Hahaha

Summer (i.e. no school) here in the Philippines are from March/April to May). Most classes began during the first 2 weeks of June.

ETA: That may not answer your question but I think you were  wondering why they have classes when it's "summer".

I have summer classes last March to May for Math 53 (Calculus 1) and a PE (Duckpin Bowling)

My class is done. We had this horrifying quiz in Math and a recitation quiz in Physics which was so hard to answer.

School was fun today! We had Inter-House Soccer matches today, which I participated in. We won two out of five houses, drew with one, and lost two. That's considered really good as our House only has a Soccer player, while the other houses have more than one. Whee! And I was so touched by all the House-mates who came down to support us! Love the team spirit! =D

Boring. The Biology lecturer made 50 over people do corrective service (which is to clean the school or just to sit there to reflect) when they were late for the lecture. And the 30 plus made it just in time by running up the auditorium. I was one of them. Worse still, the biology lecturer cant lecture at all, so you can see all the people giving a what-is-she-saying look when you look around, or better still, asleep.

I had Econs, which i practically spent my whole lesson sending texts to other people. :laff:

P.E was the usual boring training for pull-ups for NAPFA test. Unlike LB's college offering sports and games like Waterpolo. Sad

Then followed by Geopraphy by my extremely annoying Geog tutor and lecture by the funny-but-not-so-funny lecturer in an extremely cold theatre.

AND I STUDIED HARD AGAIN! FROM 3.30pm to 7.30pm today! =D

FUN FUN FUN! I played in our Inter-House Floorball competition and the girls came in champions! The guys lost by a narrow margin of 4-3 to another house and came in second place. But we're the overall champions! Yay! Thankful once again to all the housemates who stayed back in school till 7pm to support us. =D

We did chocolate making in the lab today! Well, it's actually not chocolate making since we just waited for the trainer to make the garnache after which we just ate the thing. It was supposed to be an 'enrichment' module though.

Today, we had our National Day celebration in school. I must say that the celebration was really boring. Other than the Mass Dance, which saved the day! BUT... our class had to leave halfway for a Biology make-up lesson. What a spoiler!

We did on-the-spot presentations in class again. Mine was passable but not up to my standards due to my HUGE headache.

Then I joined the SAY club for meetings during lunchtime.

Almost dozed off during Media History class.

Got the "Amazing" news that the value of an assignment has just been tripled and the deadline has been shortened by 2 days.

I love this.

Was the first day of school today, i made a change to my schedule so i have civics this semester.

Spanish 4 - Same teacher as for Spanish 3 last year so I'm ok with that... only 5 people in the class though. Which means group projects will be weird. Undecided

Civics - Lady is a little strange... Yells really loud, says she's "brutally honest" but i think she's just strange. Tongue

Tech Prep Math - One of my best friends says he's awesome but i don't know what else to say here.

Tech Writing - Will be my favorite class, lots better from the english class last year.

Computers - Ok but we're already doing work lol. We had to hook up keyboards and laptops today Tongue

Today, school was BIZARRE.

Okay.

So at lunch, I was asked out by a girl. Well, to be specific, she wanted me to come over to her house to do math homework. Since I'm not completely dense, it was obvious that she was asking me out on what I thought was a study date. So now I will try to explain where the weirdness begins.

I've known this girl since 8th grade and she's a really good friend, but that's it. Now, there's a second girl who came to school in elementary, left for some years, and finally come came back this year. Girl 2 hates Girl 1 (and incidentally is dating Girl 1's younger brother, figure that one out). Now since both girls are my friends, I thought it would make things beyond weird if I went over to Girl 1's house on a "date", let alone "date" Girl 1 at all. I didn't want to be causing any drama. So then I spent the rest of lunch figuring out how to break it to Girl 1 gently that I didn't want to go out with her.

And then I remembered I had made plans with my younger sister to watch movies that night (since she wasn't invited to her best friend's party, another figure that one out). So yes! I had an excuse!  So then Girl 1 really wanted me to go do "math homework" still, and she wanted to do it alone. Um. No. In the end, we ended up in the library with like seven or so other people.

And...

We did math homework.

Okay, so maybe she really did need help in Algebra II! How was I supposed to know?  Roll Eyes

not school, but I moved into my dormitory. So far it's cool, though everyone is moving in today. My family and "in-laws" are their hotel relaxing before dinner.

half my wing of residence are science students so I'll have a lot people to study with. there are 18 people on my wing floor plus the Resident Advisor 9 of them are in general sciences like me and the other half are in arts so it'll be quite fun. I have some nursing orientation events thoughout the week and some residence orientation events which is awesome.

I have a roommate who is also in science, we're in a lot of the same classes which is nice so we can always ensure we're in class haaha...

Pretty good. Classes were interesting, although my ICHB lecturer gave us all the very bad news that more than half the class failed the mid term. She plans to give us the results on Wednesday, and give us the weekend to tell our parents if we failed, and she'll call them up on Monday to discuss why we're not doing well. *shudders*

If my mum got a call telling her I failed, I'd be dead. Literally. And no more computer. Eeeks.

but...my lecturer told me I passed and did pretty well in it. *phew*

I can sleep in peace now.  Grin

OK.  During Academic Support the funniest thing happened.  OK so, we had Latin homework to find a dollar bill and find three Latin phrases on it.  So three guys in my class, decided to go to the Woodworking teacher and asked for a dollar.  So in return, the teacher would get his shoe.   :laff: So during Academic Support, they were in the classroom with one shoe. :laff:  They got their shoes back.  But during the whole event, we were joking that the teacher would sell the shoes on eBay.  :laff: That was the only funny thing during school.

At my international school, there is a German girl who is dating a Costa Rican guy. They both speak English, but the German is learning Spanish, so I guess that she thought that it would be good for her boyfriend to learn German. And it was hilarious.

She had a book, which looked very educational, except the problem was the pronunciation. The sounds are completely unnatural for English speakers. I tried too and it sounded equally horrible. She demanded her boyfriend memorize the first five pages. I could barely pronounce "Ich bein ein Mann." if that is what the phrase was.

Here's a German Little Mermaid video I found on youtube so you can hear what it sounds like. It's pretty, yes, but it's incredibly hard to pronounce correctly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJM-RTaLlvQ

Either way, Spanish is much easier to learn and I am starting to pick up the accent of one of my good friends whenever I speak. It's fun. He's from Panama. I practice my Spanish with him. He has a Spanish accent when he talks English and I always notice people's accents. Some accents I love and some bother me, but his I really love, it just takes a while to understand at times. I guess it must be equally interesting for him to listen to me talk Spanish in an English accent. But I wouldn't know since I'm not a native Spanish speaker.

From reading fiction books with some German in it, I noticed that some German words are almost like their English counterpart. And I think 2-word terms in English when translated to German is just one long word.

Ooohh, the song Silent Night in German.

Normal. Normal school day.

The other day though, I had the most Amazing Race-ish day I can remember. For Old Testament class, we had to print out a book. And I had to figure out how the printer worked while my partner printed the pages. It actually felt like an AR task in a way, it was really fun. We were first to finish so I was happy about that. Smiley

Then later, I had to catch a taxi off the street because my dad was staying to watch my brother's volleyball game. I was carrying my backpack so it was really AR-ish as well. *nods* Those days are fun. Smiley

Fulfilling because I actually did everything I wanted myself to do the night before, so I cheerily turned in all my work. I usually miss something or there's usually so little work I feel nothing after doing it. But I carefully planned things out so I finished all my assignments and felt so good. Smiley

Spanish - We got our tests back. 84% B, not exactly what I was hoping for.

Gym - Last day of swimming, sorta sad. Now we do roller blading, pickle ball, and tennis for the next 6 weeks.

Algebra - We got our tests back and I had a 99 out of 105, so that's like a 94% or something. The new chapter is a little confusing, but I'll get it soon like I did the rest. Cheesy

Business - Finally brought that B+ up and now I have all A's. Cheesy We took some 100 point test, I think I got an A but who knows.

English - We went to the computer lab and typed our papers, but I already had mine typed and just had to make 3 changes and print it off.

It was an easy day for the most part. 2 Period did absolutely nothing, 1 period I spent half the period listening to music and staring at the clock, and 1 in the pool, and 1 actually working. Cheesy

Grades as of Now:

Spanish: 95% A
Gym: 97%(?) A
Algebra: 96% A
Business: 90% A-
English: 97% A

Oh really? You guys like it? Lol.

But seriously, I've done it before. I've had simulated Survivor games that can last like two or three days, because you have to play for every person. Or if you don't want to get indepth, you can finish a game really quick. Seriously, simulating Survivor games (or Amazing Race or Big Brother) using pen and paper is REALLY, REALLY fun if you're a big fan of those series. I ran Blood Lottery through four times, and it was really fun each time imagining the different possible plots.

Basically, here's how I do Survivor. Quickly write a bunch of names. Now mentally assign some characteristics to each person, based on your impression of what that name means.

Examples... Kaitlyn - snobby girl, probably weak, is she secretly strategic?
Alice - UTR, does well at challenges.
Landon - athletic, smooth with the ladies, weakness is saying controversial things
Jack - Asian, smart, only person who can build a fire by himself

Now imagine a challenge and pick a winning tribe. The losing tribe goes to TC. And this is the fun part. Imagine if those people you just invented went to TC, who would they vote out? Did Landon say something stupid that hurt his chances in the game? Does Kaitlyn like Alice or not? Would Landon's tribe be willing to vote him out? Do Jack's fire-building skills make him indispensable? You can go so many different ways, and for some reason, I get attached to certain characters, I wonder if you will too.  Cheesy

Anyway, now you know a secret hobby of mine. Wink

Today, some of the guys in my computer class had to go to the other schools to install AVG anti virus on the computers. (teachers are that sad, they can't do it themselves) all but 3 of us (me and two other people) stayed at the high school and we had fun wrapping up cables for 2 hours. Undecided

Sarcastic. All the lecturers were in a very sharp, sarcastic mood today for some reason.  My class continued with class presenttions today. Some of them were very...disturbing.  And I got an ultimatum. If I don't come up with some idea for a sketch on verbal messages in...36 hours, I'll lose 15% of my grade Sad

Other than that, it was a good school day. Smiley

Maybe you can draw a picture of people talking to each other and explain how verbal messages do stuff. Oh and by the way, Elle, this is kind of off-topic, but I do read your blog. Kinda random place to say it, but yeah, I do. Smiley

BTW, Heather, I find that hilarious. Cheesy

for sketch do you mean drawing? or do you have to do something to explain verbal messages?

A friend of mine is in theology and she was telling me about this exercise she did in class. The class was divided into pairs and give a piece of paper and one pen. Together each pair had to draw, together, "home", but they were not allowed to speak to each other, so they had to find other ways to communicate without being verbal. Afterwards everyone talked about the experience...

We had a sub yestrerday in Business. She was this old 75 year old grandma and she had the granny voice too.

First she said we'd need our workbooks, then someone said what if you dont have it? She said, well your in some deep sh*t then.

Then she had a Victorias secret bag under the desk and somebody asked what was in there and she said it was her goodies.  Roll Eyes

Then someone drew a dildo in someones workbook and he told her as a joke and she said let me see, I've never seen one of those before. lol

Yeah, it was pretty unappropriette but hilarious day.

Terrible at first, but it'll turn out well in the end. It was not a school day, but I had to go to college in the morning to do the sketch on verbal messages. Unfortunately, despite me telling him what to do for the past week, the only thing my partner (who's notorious for skipping classes and not handing in assignments) could say was "I cannot do this, I dunno anything." Needless to say,the presentation could not go on as I'd planned it, and the grades sucked. 2.5 out of 15. I've NEVER failed anything in my entire life, lol.

Anyway, my lecturer took me aside and tole me she was sorry I had to be paired with 2 inactive members, the above mentioned one, and the class genius, who is sick I think and has not been to college for the past month. So, she told me that she would assess my 15% based on another assignment, an essay. Phew. That should be an easy 15%. since I'm good at essays.

Thank God.  Grin

Anyways, classes now are all just revision, with quizzes to help us prepare for the final exams. The quiz I took today, I got 76%, which was the highest mark in the class, the second highest scorer only had 64%. The lecturer used me as an example "You guys should really start studying like Elizabeth, or you'll all fail the exam". I was like "wth, I haven't touched my notes/textbooks since the midterms 7 weeks ago." :laff:

I'm scared of what's going to happen tomorrow because (I think) one of my friends accidentally messed up the router connected to MY computer (because she deleted the flash I think... I know none of you know what that means, but i think it means EVERYTHING is gone) I don't even know why she wanted to use my computer today (probably to listen to music since her speakers didn't work).

Fine.

My presentation went well in the morning, thankfully, but then my glasses broke 3 hours before a graded quiz I needed to take in the afternoon. It was a mad rush trying to get them fixed, thankfully I had a spare rimless frame, so I got holes drilled in my lenses and attached to the frame. I can't believe my mum actually thought I broke my glasses on purpose!!! Roll Eyes
Anyway, I spent the 3 hour break meant for studying trying to get my glasses fixed, since I can't see more than 5 feet in front of me without them, which mean I did not hve time to study for my quiz. To my surprise, I got a 22/25, compared to my usual grade of 18 or 19/25.

Weirdly, I do better when I do not study.

School was really scary.  There's this girl I like.  But I made it a little obvious that I like her to others.  However, two guys told she likes me back.  However, when Guy 1 left, Guy 2 told me that she doesn't.  At 4:30-ish, Guy 1 e-mailed me saying she likes me.  I asked Guy 2's thoughts on it and she said she doesn't like me.  Who should I believe?  Guy 1 or Guy 2?

Don't believe either of them. I mean really, from right here we don't know who they are so it's hard to judge that. Just keep in mind when you talk to this girl, that there's a chance she may like you. So just examine what she does/says and let that decide for you.

Okay, well, you know what? Let's have some fun with thinking.

Let's say that she does like you. In this case you both like each other, and from there, it's up to you what you do.
Let's say that she does not like you. In this case, nothing has really changed for you. You aren't with her now and if she doesn't like you, you won't be with her, say, tomorrow.
In short, you are either with her or your life remains unchanged. So it sounds at least to me that you don't have to be really concerned. It'll be okay either way. Besides, high school relationships rarely last in the long run, so say you do go with her, you have to realize you would probably break up eventually. There are all kinds of things that put the situation into perspective.

Now that doesn't answer the question of what you are going to do next. Here's what I say. If you treat her respectfully, as a gentleman, then she will definitely like you much more than if you treated her like a piece of meat. Girls love to feel special. Once she sees that you really care about her and treat her right, she will come to think that you are probably the best guy for her. Even if she doesn't like you now, eventually she will notice you. It might take a long time, but keep working at it and don't push it. Seek out ways to help her when you can. Then, if she has a problem, she will seek you out and that will be a good opportunity to show her that you are somebody that she can depend on. When you feel that you are at a point where the feelings are mutual, pull together your courage and ask her out on a group date. A group date would be less stressful for a first date, and your friends can help you point out things if you're doing something wrong. (I've never dated, this is just things I think would be best.) And even if you don't become boy/girlfriend you will still be really good friends. Don't underestimate friends, they are incredibly important throughout your whole life. Sometimes, a friends relationship can even be superior to a romantic one.

Wait, one more thing Splatt. Your age is listed as 11. Now if you are really 11, I would highly recommend you do NOT date until you are at least 16. There is a reason I'm saying it that. I think a young person could pull off dating, but the thing is though I think it would be much better if you are older and more mature and understand who you are more and the girl also understands who she is more.

Also I think you also have to realize that dating is really a search for a marriage partner. Yes, many people will disagree, but if you think about it, people that date seriously are looking for someone to 'spend the rest of their lives with', i.e. marry. So at 11 you are way too young to get married or be emotionally invested in another person to the degree where she is your girlfriend. It's a thing that can keep you from experiencing other things that people your age should be experiencing. Do you want to look back with regret on all the things that you could have done, but chose not to because you were putting a girl first in your life? 16 is also too young, but you can probably start dating to get some dating experience and you probably know more about yourself by this time. It's better to wait. Here's what I say. How old do you want to be when you marry? Probably twenties. Say you date one girl every year, some people even do more, but let's say one. If you want to marry at 25 and you start at 11, you will have gone through 14 different girls. Do you want to have 13 ex-girlfriends? Just something to think about. If you decide to do something, you must realize you accept all the consequences of your actions, whether or not you want them. If it's not worth it, then don't do it.

I'm sorry if you think I'm a little bit overbearing on this issue, but I just want to help. Sorry if I'm 'intruding'.

I wasn't allowed to date until I turned 16. Somehow Julia managed to start dating at 14, mind you I'm the oldest. Adam I dont think had any rules... My youngest sister, Rebekah, is never going to be allowed to date hahaha...

My baby is not going to be allowed to date until she/he is allowed to vote Cheesy

What kind of dating doing 11 years old do?

on Dec 12th, 2007, 8:05am, MK is OK. wrote:

I have to say I agree with MK. Lol, my mum says I'm not allowed to date till I finish college with a degree.

Yea, her mother could just throw her out of her house and leave her on her own but of course mom cares for her so she forces her to study and get a degree because it's for her own good anyway. Stupid mom, right?

We had a school shooting threat. Shocked Shocked Shocked
A new girl (lets call her Ema) keeps getting in fights this year. Ema got in a fight with another girl (lets call her Liz) last week. Well Liz and Ema both got suspended for 3 days. Ema threatened to get friends from her old school and bring guns to our school.

I would imagine that the reason why they don't escort you in between classes is because there will be hundreds of people walking in the halls, and they can't really have a teacher by every single student. Plus, I'm sure there are teachers in the halls watching everything anyway.

Speaking of hundreds of people walking through the halls...has anyone heard of the high school that put up One Way signs in their halls to conduct traffic?  I heard about it on the news recently.  The principal hopes this will reduce the number of fights and arguments in the halls if everyone goes in one direction.  I guess people won't notice each other by the backs of their heads  Grin.  So far the kids at the school are following the new rule.

You all are lucky.  I have to go to school  Sad.  Good news though...I got one of my test scores back and got an A-.  I felt pretty confident taking the test.  I assumed I would get a B or something.

About the "One Way Lane School" I don't know if they would be late for class.  Maybe if their class is right up the hall and they have to go with the flow of traffic and do a U turn around the corner Grin.  That would irritate me if my class was 5 doors down but I had to go around the mulberry bush to get to class.

Back to school Wed.  Is it just me or did we use to get 2 weeks off for Spring Break back in the day?  I checked my school schedule and I only get a week off.

Don't complain. I was supposed to get a week off, but because of all the snow days, I get a whole two days off.  Roll Eyes lol.

Today I had my first day of class... and someone put the wrong room on the schedule.

It was me, and two other girls there, and we sat there for like a half hour wondering where the instructor was until finally someone came by and helped us out.

Then they told us they switched rooms - we still can't figure out how they knew when we didn't...... but the instructor wasn't mad about it or anything.
