Pappy watch Things just rolling along for the judge Each Thursday, we update how Paschal English of Thomaston fared in the previous episode of "Survivor: Marquesas" and place odds on the continued survival of the Griffin Judicial Circuit Superior Court judge nicknamed "Pappy." The show airs at 8 tonight on CBS (7937). And the Oscar for Best Surf Clinch Scene Since "From Here To Eternity" goes to . . . Pappy and Sean?! We wouldn't have believed it if we hadn't seen it with our own tear-filled eyes: the joyous beach embrace by the two former . . . well, if they weren't enemies, they weren't exactly close either. But then last week the team of English, 58, and 30-year-old Harlem-raised schoolteacher Sean Rector won the Reward Challenge by cracking open coconuts and . . . oh, it's too silly to explain. All you need to know is that they embraced wildly and rolled over and over on the beach long enough to make "Eternity's" Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr look like barely kissin' cousins. "Who knew that a little black boy from Harlem would be here with a Southern white judge from Georgia," Rector crowed during the duo's reward feast. Meanwhile, who'd bet against English and Rector sticking together through the next few votes -- along with their friends Neleh and Vecepia? Our prediction: With seven contestants remaining, Pappy may not Survive from here to eternity. But he'll still be around next week. -- Jill Vejnoska http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/living/tv/0502pappy.html
