"Survivor" game-show production team finishes shooting, confirms no environmental damage
SATUN, July 28 (TNA) - The popular reality US television game show production "Survivor" finished shooting its latest series on Tarutao Marine National Park, the production team said, confirming that the filming did not do any harm to the local environment.
Chris Lowenst Giw, Thai Production Manager of the series disclosed that the company would certainly get Bt 5 million back because the film production of Survivor series on Tarutao island National Reserve posed no threat to the island 's environment.
Bt 5 million was paid to the Royal Forest Department earlier as insurance for any damage.
Some production crews stay on the island clearing things up will leave the island on August 5, he said.
The series makers also donated Bt 1 million to the park for conservation purpose of the national park, said Giw.
Mr. Giw added that Survivor Thailand series, scheduled to broadcast in US in the next three month, would boost the province's image and promote Thailand as a popular tourist destination.
The beautifully pristine nature of Tarutao will draw more tourists to the island, he added.
Thai viewers may have a chance to see the series next year, he said.
Ruangchai Chongsanguan, Satun Deputy Governor that the provincial officials have observed the filming sites and found no damage.
However, Film Board and Forest Department officials will check the location again to make sure the reality TV shooting doesn't affect the environment and will then return Bt 5 million to the producer.
He added the presence of the production crews benefited locals by generating millions of income. In the long term, the show will make Thailand known worldwide and gain international recognition.(TNA) E004
