While our month-long celebration of Nike’s Air Max Day has showcased both the past and present highlights of Tinker Hatfield’s brilliant Air Max innovations, it’s the future of Air that will bring the Nike Air Presto Womens technology into an entirely new realm. The manifestation of 3Nike Air Max 90 Womens 0 years of research, engineering and sheer love for all things “Air,” the all-new VaporMax is ready to take flight.
Unlike any Air Max model before it, the VaporMax is a complete redesign of the visible air concept, stripping Nike Cortez Donnathe shoe down to the basics. In fact, one of the major developments in crafting the VaporMax came when the team at Beaverton was able to build an outsole that would be applied to the Air bag cushioning. With a sole composed entirely of TPU, the designers were able to strip out excess glue and rubber. Combined with the Flyknit and Flywire upper, the overall feel is—well, lighter than air.
For a shoe that’s celebrating three decades of Air Max advancements, it seems satisfying and fitting that Nike would return to a design featuring the absolute basics—colorways included. At a private VaporMax media preview Nike Air Max 90 Uomo Nero in NYC last week, Creative Director of Nike Running Andres Harlow explained that the “Pure Platinum” colorway was selected as a “reset” of the brand’s history of bright running shoe color palettes (looking at you “Infrared” Air Nike Free 5.0 Womens Max 90s).

With Air Max Day coming soon, Nike Greater China has released a soundtrack celebrating the line of iconic sneakers. Teaming up with six different Adidas ZX Flux Femme Fleur producers, some of whom have performed at Boiler Room, the soundtracks extract the most iconic music trends and elements representing each year an Air Max was launched. Covering 1987, 1990, 1995, 1997, 2016 and 2017, the shoes include the Air Max 1, 90, 95, 97, LD-Zero and Vapormax. The tracks will also be available for users of the Nike+ Running.
