Marlins president says core pieces aren't 'in play' at trade deadline
 
With the trade deadline a week away, Miami Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill told reporters Sunday that the team Cleveland Indians Jerseys isn't interested in dealing some of its core players.
 
Hill said the Marlins are telling teams that custom jerseys they are not planning to trade Giancarlo Stanton, Justin Bour, Christian Yelich, J.T. Realmuto, Marcell Ozuna and Dan Straily.
 
"It's not stopping calls from coming in," Hill said. "It's been fairly consistent, with people checking in to see where we're at to see if we may be open to expanding the players we're talking about.
 
Hill acknowledged that the uncertainty about the team's ownership is "part of" why the club isn't looking to sell off its big-name players.
 
Miami did trade reliever David Phelps to Seattle last  week and closer A.J. Ramos Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys is considered to be on the block.
 
"The relievers are more trade deadline-centric," Hill said. "You're going to get value for those guys. You want to take advantage of the deadline. Those other guys are controllable."
 
Entering play Monday, the Marlins are 44-52 and 11 games back in the National League Wild Card race.
