Nike can attach the "upper" of the shoe

Running shoes have always been a platform for some crazy ideas - big, orange pumps and flashing lights were just the beginning of the hyper-competitive sneaker industry.

Now, there's a new kind of air-filled sole from Nike, called VaporMax, and it Adidas ZX 700 Femme can do more than attract the attention of passers-by. It could simplify the sneaker design by turning the Nike Air Huarache Mujer entire outsole into a bubble, making the shoes lighter and more comfortable at the same time.

See, shoes generally have three layers under your foot: the insole, the midsole, and the outsole. In most shoes, the insole is little more than a thin cloth for the foot, while the outsole is made of a simple layer of material that provides a middle ground between grip, durability and softness - it has always been the midsole absorbing the effects of each cadence.

But it's goodbye, midsole. Nike wants to do without the VaporMax on the hitherto crucial element of the sneaker. The sneakers take the long-term Nike project of filling outsoles with air to the logical conclusion - now most of the outsole is hollow. This means that the Adidas ZX Flux Damen Blumen outsole can be compressed far enough to provide a comfortable running experience without the need for a Adidas NMD Womens separate midsole.

The result is that the shoes can be both simpler and lighter, without sacrificing comfort, even with long durations.

Nike claims that the innovation consists of materials. Never before has it been possible to work with polymers that are affordable enough for the walls of these air-filled cushions. Because it is one thing to make a lightweight plastic that has both the required physical rigidity and the required elasticity. However, it is quite another to achieve the durability required to withstand repeated impacts with concrete. Previous air pockets provided some cushioning, but they were linked to rigid structural parts of the outsole. Importantly, they do not provide enough cushioning to eliminate the Adidas ZX Flux Womens need for a midsole.

Nike has already shown an interest in space age shoe technology (3D printed sneakers, Nike Roshe Run Dames anyone?). Part of the motivation is to have the best shoes, of course, but also to have the simplest shoes and to make the cheapest.

By eliminating the midsole, Nike can attach the "upper" of the shoe directly to the outsole, reducing the number of components and simplifying manufacturing. There are fewer things to order, store, manipulate, and most of all, to control.

Still, it's worth waiting to see runners reviewing the new technology after a few months of intense use. Nike is known for exploring cool new footwear technologies that are far less useful than they first appear.
