Big Brother 5's Drew Wins
by Angel Cohn in TV Guide

In last week's Big Brother 5 finale, Drew Daniel's prospects looked iffy. The four-time Head of Household winner evicted his own girlfriend, Diane, and went to the final two with his original alliance mate, Michael (aka Cowboy). But somehow, the recent college grad survived 82 days of isolation from the outside world and beat out 13 other players for the $500,000 prize. In a tight 4-3 vote, the jury (made up of seven ex-housemates) tapped Drew to take home the cash. Here, the 22-year-old cutie tells TV Guide Online about his big win, the Diane debacle and his very own twin twist.

TV Guide Online: Were you confident of victory?
Drew: To be honest, I thought for sure that Cowboy had it. I told Cowboy, "Hey man, congratulations. You won this thing and I'm so happy for you." When there were two votes for Cowboy, I was thinking, "It's going to be a 7-0 vote and I'm not going to get a single vote." Then I started getting some votes! But boy, was that dramatic. I was so stressed out and my heart was racing and then my key got pulled out and I couldn't believe it. I was amazed and shocked and it was like a dream. Now, it is finally starting to set in, but it was awesome.

TVGO: Still plan on dating Diane?
Drew: Totally. She's an awesome girl. I understand that we have some genuine feelings for each other and, hopefully, things will be a little bit easier out of that crazy environment. I'm totally looking forward to hanging out with her. And it sounds like she's forgiven me for voting her out.

TVGO: If you'd met her outside of the house, would you two have dated?
Drew: I totally think that if I had met Diane out of the house, I would have dated her. She's definitely got a spunk that I like in women. Sometimes she has a short fuse that's too short, and she's a spitfire, but she's a very attractive woman and she's got genuine heart. I think some of the bad qualities were exploited just because of the game that we were in. She's an awesome girl and hopefully things will work out.

TVGO: Marvin said you called Diane "trailer trash" and accused Cowboy of racism. Where did that come from?
Drew: Marvin is all about TV. Cowboy and I were pretty mad at him after he asked us those questions. They were totally below the belt. Marvin is the kind of guy who, if he doesn't get what he wants, is going to make you look bad. I thought it was funny coming from Marvin — the classiest man of us all. But it was all OK. I talked to him after the show, and it is all for TV.

TVGO: As a twin yourself, what's your take on Adria and Natalie's "Project DNA" secret?
Drew: I feel like a total idiot for that, because I was actually cast with my twin brother to possibly do that.

TVGO: Wait, you and your brother, Ben, almost did the "twin twist"?
Drew: Yeah. We were actually really considering it. I don't know if we could have pulled it off like they did; they were really smooth about it. But when Natalie walked out that door, I was totally shocked. My brain was doing flips in my head. I didn't know what was going on. I was so happy for them to be in the house. I was kind of living through them, because I didn't have my twin brother with me.

TVGO: BB5 showed clips of you shaving and plucking off all your body hair. What's up with that?
Drew: Oh, I didn't know about this! I guess I have an obsession with making sure I don't have any body hair. I still haven't gotten over that yet. Maybe a couple of years from now I'll let it go. Maybe I'll use the money to get rid of it permanently. [Laughs] I've got much better things to spend my money on than that. I'll keep doing it the way I do now.

TVGO: Any plans for the cash?
Drew: I know I'm going on vacation with my family and then just take a break from it all. I might have to go back to Miami and party it up a little bit. We'll see. I'm going to invest my money wisely.

TVGO: Any embarrassing moments you're afraid to watch?
Drew: The streaking. I can't believe I did that now, looking back on it. But we had a great time doing that. I'm just hoping that they used the blurred-out option on the TV.
