The Second Hour of the Seventh Episode

11:43 p.m. The Godlewskis leave Fort McDowell. They talk about “funneling” their strengths into a “single unit.” Cut to Sharon and Michelle arguing about directions.

11:48 p.m. The Weavers leave. They are different and they are glad that they are.

11:51 p.m. The Linzes leave. Tommy Linz doesn’t roll with the punches…instead, he punches. Cut to sneezemachine’s eyes rolling.

12:08 a.m. The Paolos leave. They say they just want to stay in the game. Of course, they will not.

12:14 a.m. The Bransens leave. They say they are gonna be a team. sneezemachine is surprised of this comment.

Four teams drive 33 miles to Mesa, Arizona, specifically Williams Gateway Airport, more specifically Fighter Combat International.

The Linzes get in trouble with the law. They ask a cop for the directions and the cop ends up lecturing them for chatting on the road. Explaining the situation, a Linz says that they are “racing other cars.” Yup, not a good thing to say to a cop.

Meanwhile, the Bransens head to a casino and they beg there. The Bransen girls beg using their girly charms, Wally “[keeps] a nice distance” so as to not turn off any alms-giver.

The Weavers arrive at Fighter Combat International first and take the number one sticker. The Linzes arrive next. And as the Godlewskis come in, Nick Linz says that a Godlewski looks like a dog with her head out of the window. The Paolos arrive next and the Bransens, feigning hope, arrive last.

They all have their numbered stickers and are now waiting for the place to open in the morning.

4:30 p.m. The place opens. The teams find out that the next task is a Roadblock.

Who feels the need for speed?

Rolly Weaver says “Me, me, me!” He, Megan Linz and Sharon Godlewski are to perform the Roadblock for the first three teams.

“In this Roadblock, one Team member has to take off in a fighter plane and, on orders from the pilot, take control of the plane and perform a 360-degree loop in the air.”

After some scary aeronautics, Rolly, Megan and Sharon pull off the stunt in their first try. Their families leave, with the Weavers leading.

Meanwhile, Brian Paolo and Lauren Bransen are failing in their first try to do the loop. They attempted it a second time and both were then successful.

All the teams are now heading to the Grand Canyon, 277 miles away. They have to find Lipan Point, a place that looks over the widest point of the canyon.

On the road, the Weaver girls playfully throw refuse at the Godlewskis’ car. Linda Weaver later jokingly asks the toll operator in the Grand Canyon National Park to teach the Linzes a long history lesson about the park. Result: the Weavers piss off the others.

The trailing Bransens and Paolos choose to do different strategies traveling to Lipan Point. The Bransens stop and call for the directions while the Paolos do not ask at all. DJ Paolo argues that they should go to the “World’s Biggest Pothole” first and see what happens there. Result: they wind up in a traficky road, almost like they’re “back in Jersey.”

The route info picked up at Lipan point instructs the teams to go to Glen Canyon Dam in Page, Arizona some 137 miles away.

The lead three teams arrive at the dam almost at the same time, but the Weaver females need to go to the toilet and so their family gets behind a little. They all need to pick a guide to take them to the top of the dam where their next clue is. The next clue is a Detour.

“In this Detour, Teams need to choose between Bearing and Bailing, both taking place on Horseshoe Bend. In Bearing, Teams need to travel by motorized raft to a location and choose one of five colored coded cards with a unique compass coordinate. Then, using a compass, they must follow the coordinate to their next card. To complete the task, they have to find three locations in this manner and collect the same colored card at each point. In Bailing, Teams travel by motorized raft to a section of water, choose a submerged boat, and bail enough water out of it to make it light enough to carry onshore to a marked location.”

Bailing – Linz, Godlewski
Bearing – Weaver (“I’m a good navigator.”)

As the Linzes and Godlewskis motor on to their Detour, Nick Linz brags that his team is doing the more challenging Detour. sneezemachine would like to see Nick use a compass. He bets that Nick would be more challenged if he did that.

It turns out Linda Weaver IS a good navigator. They find the green colored cards one by one as the Bailers furiously Bail. The Linzes finish first, taunting the Weavers when they were heading upriver. The Weavers finish next, and the Godlewskis soon after.

As the lead three teams all head back, the Bransens appear at the dam. They finish the Bailing Detour quickly.

As the Bransens head back, the Paolos appear at the dam. They got so far behind because the road they took took them far from the dam. Marion tried to warn them, but nooo, DJ had to have it his way. It doesn’t look like they finished quickly.

Bailing – Linz, Godlewski, Bransen, Paolo
Bearing – Weaver

And so, there are two separate races: the race for first place and the race for second-to-the last place. The teams are all racing towards Antelope Point, the jump-off to the Pitstop, a houseboat floating about Lake Powell, Arizona.

The Weavers drop out of the race for first place when they decided to ask for directions. They just want to be sure but this move will cost them.

The Linzes arrive at Antelope Point first but in haste and over-excitement forgot to follow the instructions “follow the marked path.” When they did follow, the Godlewskis had arrived.

The Weavers come in third at the boat dock.

A bit while later, the Bransens arrive followed by the Paolos.

The Linzes first have a bit of trouble starting their boat, and then they realize they are too heavy for the boat to go fast.

And so, the lighter Godlewskis fly past them and into first place, winning a trailer for it. The disappointed Linzes come next, and then the Weavers.

The Bransens arrive fourth at the Pitstop after a bit of a scare because of a slow boat. The Paolos arrive last, not without one last bickering and shouting match in their boat, and are promptly eliminated.

ya and I don't think they were jokingly telling the operator to delay the Linz either but hey, I'm just saying, that's just my opinion.
I still liked your recap though, the picture chart-things were really helpful.
