Can I just say that imo this is the worst season of AI EVER! If it weren't for a couple of the gals, I would quit watching. I find it very hard to believe that these contestants were the best they could come up with. And if they were as dedicated to finding singers as they were to entertaining the public, we might have found more stars. I hate to think of all the great singers they missed by allowing the freaks to audition.

Well, I think some are good but last night/top 12 was NOT that good.I think Hayley should stay, she actually wasn't bad last night I never thought she was horrible but some people seem to think so....Sanjaya should DEFINITELY go home after last night.

Yeah, so much for their claim that every year, the Top 12 will consist of better singers than the previous year. Last year's batch of finalists was way better than this year's. Last night's episode was... really boring. It's the finals, and they're still not giving phenomenal performances. Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin were strong as usual. The rest of the performances were disappointing, Sanjaya's especially. I never thought Haley was horrible, perhaps undeserving of the Top 12. However, she was not that bad last night, I hope she gets another chance. She could improve, really.

Nope Rhune, VFTW actually didn't have that much power. It's actually the city that Sanjaya comes from that has been voting for him constantly. I believe that Sanjaya will not make the top 9. George Stevens made the final 6 because his singing wasn't that bad, and there's a bit of style and class to his singing. But basically Sanjaya, after weeks of mediocre performance aren't improving at all. If he makes it through next week with a mediocre performance, then he'll be out the following week. America eventually will make the right decision.

American Idol isn't like Singapore Idol.. where each episode we don't even receive like more than 500,000 votes.. the finale had only about 1 million votes only. Hence the bad singers were able to go all the way to the final 4, where the good ones which didn't make it but the judges chose as wildcards went early. That's why American Idol's like the best singing contest ever, even with controversy like this.

Every contestant has their city voting for them, so that pretty much negates each other. Federal Way isn't that big (my husband's family lives there, I have visited it many times), and the vote is split with Blake, who's also from the Seattle area and is a much stronger performer. Howard Stern + vote for the worst had more influence than the people from Federal Way. VTFW has a strong following and they have pushed a contestant through consistently to the top 5 or 6 each season except the first. Once you get past that stage their group becomes too small as the people who's contestants are gone start to vote for their next best favorite and so on. It's the same pattern each season.
