Pickton charged with murder of seventh woman

VANCOUVER - A seventh murder charge has been laid against Robert William Pickton in the missing women case in Vancouver. The latest charge involves Brenda Wolfe, who disappeared in early 1999.

Since 1983, at least 50 women have disappeared from Vancouver's drug-infested downtown east side. Many of them were sex trade workers.
Police laid the charges after searching Pickton's pig farm in Port Coquitlam, B.C., in early February. Investigators are still searching for remains and say they expect to be there for at least a year.

Pickton was arrested and charged with murder on Feb. 22 in the deaths of Mona Wilson and Sereena Abotsway. They were two of the last three women to disappear, vanishing in late 2001.

On April 2, he was charged with killing Jacqueline McDonell, Diane Rock and Heather Bottomley. They disappeared between Jan. 21, 1999, and Oct. 19, 2001. On April 10, he was charged with the murder of Andrea (or Angela) Joesbury, who disappeared last June.

Families of the missing women have accused Vancouver police of mishandling the investigation, ignoring evidence that a serial killer was at work. Thirty-nine of the women went missing in the last six years. The RCMP became involved in the investigation one year ago.

The families also charge police with neglecting the cases because many of the women were prostitutes and drug addicts.

Pickton is being held in jail pending his trial. He has not formally entered a plea.

deep breathe, deep breathe...

Shocked Undecided Embarassed Sad Angry Huh argggghhhhh...more bad news...one of the congregants from my church who i am super close to was at the church today.  she was very, very upset.  her sister (real sister) moved to vancouver a year before she did in 1997.  she went missing.  my friend was moving out to live with her and so still moved here.  she contacted the police before she moved and her sister was put on the missing person list.

sadly, on last friday the police/investigators found my friend's sister's body (pieces of it) on the pickton farm.  she now knows how and where her sister died.  i am so pissed.  her sister would have been 43 at the time of her death.  as far as my friend knows her sister was not into drugs but was a street worker.   when she last heard from her sister, she had mentioned a farm and nice people who lived there.  (ick!)

this death is not being reported until her family can be reached.

 Sad
