THE AMAZING RACE 5s finale posted an 8.2/13 in households, 12.91m viewers, 4.9/14 in adults 18-34, 5.6/14 in adults 18-49 and 6.2/14 in adults 25-54 from 9:00-11:00PM. The program crossed the finish line in first place in households, viewers, adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

Compared to the finale of THE AMAZING RACE 4 last year (Thursday, 8/21/03), CBS was up +30% in households (from 6.3/11), +38% in adults 25-54 (from 4.5/13), +51% in adults 18-49 (from 3.7/12), +81% in adults 18-34 (from 2.7/10) and added +3.03m viewers (from 9.88m).

If the ratings for THE AMAZING RACE 5 finale hold, this is the best household performance ever for a regularly scheduled TAR, second best viewer delivery (behind a 3/20/02 broadcast that had a SURVIVOR lead-in), matches the second best adults 18-34 and adults 25-54 delivery (behind the 3/20/02 broadcast and matching a 3/13/02 episode which also had a SURVIVOR lead-in) and the third best adults 18-49 delivery (behind the two SURVIVOR lead-in driven March 2002 episodes).

Since TAR1 finale, which was the highest rated/most watched episode ever was not regularly scheduled (9 PM after Survivor on Thursday), it wasn't counted.

But according to people, it really differs. And it boils down to each person's taste rather than some professional review or opinions...

Competition is better in TAR.
And its a much "brighter" series.

Survivor I like cuz of human relationship and who can outwit the others... Complications and such matters really interests me like Hell.

In the end, its a close match, but I still prefer Survivor.

yes, that is true.

one thing i can criticize about TAR is the lousy finales. unlike survivor which has these grand finales/reunion specials.

i both like TAR and survivor a lot. and when it comes down to it, i both watch them religiously week after week.i guess they're different and shouldn't really be compared.

The reason I think Survivor has reunions is because many people watch the show, unlike TAR. But maybe more people will watch TAR if they have a reunion show? I would like to see Charla again, and maybe they could force Mirna and Colin to hug each other for friendship's sake... Roll Eyes

Also, TAR becomes predictable somehow, since you can really see who will do well just by looking at the teams' physique. Although there are surprises, like how the Bowling Moms did, and Charla and Mirna.

Survivor got reunions cuz we know the people somewhat personally more than we know the people from TAR... In Survivor, we see them in depth...
