The easiest way to do anything is to use the reply button at the bottom of a post rather than the quick reply box. There are buttons for every function and when use press the buttons the proper code is inserted.

See at the bottom of the last post on the page it says reply, add poll, notify of replies, send topic and print. Just click on reply and a new box will come up that has the buttons on it.

Everywhere you see { or } in my examples substitute [ and ]
 
Insert a web link = {url} and {/url}
Insert an Image  = {img} and {/img}
Italise = {i} and {/i}
underline = {u} and {/u}
glow = {glow=red,2,300} and {/glow}
color = {font=Verdana} and {/font}
