A DR. PHIL PRIMETIME SPECIAL: ROMANCE RESCUE

In his own inimitable style, Dr. Phil McGraw shows the romantically challenged how to make their relationships work on A DR. PHIL PRIMETIME SPECIAL: ROMANCE RESCUE.

Knowing that everyone deals with problems and challenges in their relationships at one time or another, Dr. Phil comes to the rescue with compelling information and advice.

One couple on the special, contemplating marriage, has a very unusual prenuptial agreement that, unlike most, doesn't deal with money. Instead, it specifies domestic as well as personal responsibilities, including the frequency of their intimate encounters. Dr. Phil urges them to take a close look at their relationship before they take that walk down the aisle.

In another segment, Dr. Phil works with a woman who has a lot of first dates, but rarely has a second. Imagine what it would be like to have Dr. Phil giving you dating advice via a hidden transmitter in your ear while you're actually out on the town.

***  We'll see if he can help Jonathan and Victoria, former contestants of The Amaing Race.

We didn't see that he was different that what he portrayed on the AR show.
Both of them are in denial!  This marriage has cracks and needs repair or distance!

I could not believe my ears last night.  Jonathan still blames the editing for his behavior on TAR.  You're right, Luci .... These two are in deep denial.

To put it bluntly, I think Victoria married the lifestyle and not the man.  He clearly pulls in some serious cash from his businesses.  It's amazing what some people will justify for money.

BUt what confuses me is that Victoria had the lifestyle all along. She's a Max & Bumble and a Playboy girl. I just don't see why JOnathan when she could have had nearly any man she chose.

Time to mature?...... shes not that young.......
I actually watched this small segment, and I was less then impressed.
I thought Dr.Phil was the kind of guy that calls it like he see's it? I didn't once hear him come out and say that JohnO was an idiot, that he was disrespectfull that he was wrong in his actions... what I did hear was Dr.Phil elude to them that thier marriage could be fine if they resolve thier arguments...... BS...... just because you dont go to sleep mad and you talk things thru.... doesnt mean your marriage is a good one, sure it might last forever, but it doesnt mean its a good one.

This little retard should have been scolded, but in this pollitically correct world, nobody has the balls to tell anyone that they are an idiot... oih

She may be 35, but still not mature.  Puff, you know this also!  Wink

The way I've always seen Dr.Phil call it as he sees it, we both were surprized how he apeared to watch his words with him.

FACT:  Jon is a verbally abusive man, if not also physically abusive.

I do hope Victoria wakes up before she never wakes up at all!

Ok Jon, if you read this, I didn't intend to hurt your feelings,
just telling it like I see it!  Get at least 6 weeks of coounseling for yourself, Jon.

WoW, 35......... I thought she would've been more like 40 -42

another thing about the show I laughed at....

When Dr.Phil was questioning John about if he really cared for women....

"playboy is a big part of my life" .... WTF?  whats playboy got to do with caring about women? isn't Playboy more about a guy caring about ... ahem ... himself?

I don't know her age, just throwing something out, generalizing..........

Forget her association with Playboy!  Playboy he is, the man owns a day spa!   Playboy most likely describes him and his lifestyle!   He knew all of his actions would be on national TV and he acted like a jerk anyway!  Was it for show?

Or the real Jon?  Most of us think the real Jon!

She didn't marry him for money or lifestyle, although she may tell herself that's why she stays.  She's there because she's dysfucntional and co-dependant.  She needs counseling (as does he).

Both of them are emtionally weak people.
Her for the dependency.
Him for being overbearing!

Victoria needs counseling to give her strength to get away from him.

He needs counseling to be respectful of women.
His type usually hates women, or had a bad childdhood with his Mother!

That whole segment was a fraud with three winners and one loser.

The winners:

1. CBS - ratings boost; lame effort to address spousal abuse as seen on one of their shows; they will pat themselves on the back for answering viewer complaints bu providing this show.

2. Dr. Phil - ratings boost and shameless promotion of his shows; got to say some blunt "Dr. Phil" type things that people were anticipating but no real substance provided; tremendous ego gets even bigger.

3. Jon/Vic - get to show the "softer side" of themselves; attempted to explain the tension of the game and how it affected behavior; again, stressed editing as major problem.

The Losers:

US, the viewing public; we were snowed, tricked, bamboozled and misled into thinking that the truth would come out, be addressed, and some future resolution found.  Instead, we were the victims of a big PR blitz.
