America's Got Talent

I'm not sure how I happened upon this show.. something came on before it and I got hooked before I turned the channel I think... BUT...

If you've not seen this, watch the finale... There's a pair of brothers who were chosen by the judges to go on.  Piers was correct in that the little one needs to dump his brother (because he can NOT sing)... but that little one (he's 12 I think) can play a harmonica like nothing I've ever seen before...  He is totally amazing!!!!!  Regis said tonight that the way the kid commands the stage (and he does), that he reminds him of Wayne Newton when he was young.  I'd not noticed until he said it, but it's true.. he even has the voice..

I'm just blown away everytime he plays that harmonica... you have to see him to believe it!!

Saw him first time playing the harmonica.  I didn't think his brother sang the song that terrible.  Maybe it was the last week's singing Simon was talking about?

Why does one judge on every talent reality show have to be english and mean? Roll Eyes
Anyways, I hope the 14 year old "young Whitney Houston" wins.I'm glad to see Brandy back in everything she was gone for a while.

First, Simon Cowell produces the show.. and he hired Piers...

However, I don't think he's mean, he's just honest...and we have this thing about "making everyone feel good."  Trust me, the real world doesn't care about your self esteem or making you "feel good"... He was correct in what he said.. the older brother is not nearly as talented as the younger (in my opinion - and since I started college on a full vocal scholarship, I at least have some idea of what "good" should sound like).  I think older brother realizes it too... personally, I think they'd be better off to find a good vocalist friend.. and if brother is as good on the drums as little one is on the harmonica... give him a set of drums and they will indeed be superstars!

As for that 14 year old... he was exactly right.. she was yelling, she needs to drop the run on every other note and sing... and she needs to find something more in her range.  She was no where near as good as she was in the first round.  I agree with Tar.. I'm going with the yodeling kid (having taught herself to me is major talent) and the harpist/singer because she has a BEAUTIFUL voice.  I'd personally like to hear her do Celtic music... I think she'd be amazing!  I didn't care for the "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" thing tho...

Oh not that I mind people being mean or  keepin it real, however you want to put it, but it's just that every talent show has an english judge.LOL.
I'm not gunna lie, after that results show i'm really mad that yodeller(spelling?) made it instead of the other girl.

He held a knife in his mouth, and balanced the tip of a sword on the tip of the knife and then did the splits.. and dropped the sword.. lucky it didn't stab him... then picked it up and did it again.  He does all the way down into the split with the sword balanced on the knife - tip to tip.  Not like it's talent that will win this show.. but hey, he'd do great in a circus somewhere.. Cheesy

Judges picked Realis (the gymnasts - tall guy, short girl) and the public picked At Last, the quartet who sings acapella... I like them!

I liked N'Versity too, but their performance wasn't that great that night.Sugar-N-Spice was cute, I thought it was really cool that the older girl from N,Versity hugged one of them when they said they didn't make it.

Bianca Ryan and Rappin' Granny are the other two.

I'm sorry, but I find Rappin' Granny to be a silly novelty act and don't know how she made it to the finale.

There is one more semi-final round and then a wildcard show.

Bianca Ryan is the 11-year-old red-headed singer.

The judges put Rappin' Granny through, while America voted Bianca Ryan through.

thank you! i missed that episode.

here are my favorites for the WildCard round:

All That (tap dancers)
Corina Brouder (harpist)
Kevin Johnson (ventriloquist)
Bobby Badfingers (snappist)
Natasha Le (pianist)
N'Versity (singers)
*missed round 3*
Celtic Spring (Irish dancers/musicians)
George Kelly (singer)
QuickChange (magicians)
Lilia Stepanova (contortionist)

not including Round 3, that would give you your 10 WildCard picks (that is if one of Round 4 people isn't voted through tonight)

I didn't watch this one.  However, I did manage to catch the end of the finale last night.  When Bianca won and I read that she was only 11 years old, I wanted to see what got here there.  So I went here:

http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/index.shtml#main

Scrolled down to her video and was promptly BLOWN AWAY.  Lord that young'un has some pipes!  I've since watched some of the other videos as well.  Earlier this week someone emailed me the clip of Quick Change and I was floored.

Very happy to Bianca though.

Bianca deserved the win.  She was good, but I figured she'd probably get a recording contract anyways.  (The yoddeler probably will get one as well.) I was actually rooting for the cloggin' dudes.  There isn't much of a calling for that type of talent and they were great.  As for Quick Change..well, they've been doing that for 15 years.  They should be good.  Besides they've been all over the world performing their talent. I think this was great advertising for them as long as the guy doesn't talk to the audience much.

I was surprised that the Asian singers got less votes than the Celtic dancers.

Really, the singer won?  So this amounted to nothing more in the end to a singing contest.    Undecided
