'Jimmy Neutron' Sets Records for Nickelodeon

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Nickelodeon was pretty smart to add a boy genius to its lineup.

The premiere of "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" on Friday, Sept. 6, was the highest-rated debut in the network's history, both among its target kid audience and in total viewers.

Based on the 2001 movie, "Jimmy Neutron" chronicles the exploits of a 10-year-old who can build just about anything. His creations don't usually work the way he intended, however.

About 4.3 million people watched the show's debut, putting it ahead of several offerings on the broadcast networks that night, including CBS' "NFL Kickoff Concert" and The WB's "Reba." It was the most-watched premiere in Nick's 23-year history, surpassing "ChalkZone's" 4 million viewers last March.

Among kids 2-11, the group Nickelodeon caters to, "Jimmy Neutron" scored a 9.3 rating/33 share and 2.9 million viewers, both records for the channel. The previous marks, 8.6/27 and 2.8 million kid viewers, were also held by "ChalkZone."
