But the girl who greeted the Amazing Race contestants when they went to the Phils., was the daugther of our current president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo! I read it in a newspaper and just though to share it here...

Yes, I did know Duke.  Grin But I was rather disappointed at Luli (The President's Daughter), because she seems childlike in her size, and standing beside Phil didn't help.  Roll Eyes
 
I just hoped they could have picked a beauty queen (we have tons of them).  Smiley

heheheh...yeah... plus the lady that greeted the teams on Lagen Island in Palawan during the last elim leg did far way a better job than she did....
 
she just smiled during her part... unlike the Lagen lady who sounded very sweet...Grin

Eherm, I think that's the average "male" Filipino height is way more than Luli's. The average female Filipinos are not "way" taller than her I think.  Grin
 
But then again Filipino = male, and Filipina = female. So your statement can be correct.  Cheesy

anyways... the average Filipinos' height is 5'7" and Filipinas' is 5'5"

Not stupid at all.  Wink Hmmm... Philippines is the "English" word for our country. In the local language, Filipino, it's Pilipinas. In Spanish (Spain occupied our country for 300+ years), it's Filipinas (I think).
 
So, we call ourselves Filipino, after Filipinas.
