Redwings and RaCeDuDe arrived at Candelária Church to find out that it doesn't open until 8am the next morning. A few hours later, they were joined by Ruth and wgal, JP and username as well as Heather and Popit, where all 4 teams waited patiently at the gate outside the church.

In the mean time, Genius and Amarillo arrived at the Old Cathedral of Rio De Janeiro, not knowing that they were actually at the wrong place. Whereas Xochitl and MK's flight will not arrive until 8.05am the next morning.

At 8am the next morning, the 4 teams were shocked not to see Xochitl and MK or Genius and Amarillo at the church while they retrieved their next clue. Genius and Amarillo soon realized their mistake and spent the next 10minutes travelling to the correct church to retrieve their next clue.

Redwings and RaCeDuDe maintained their lead and found their next clue in the church.

ROUTE INFO

Intersection

This is the first of only two Intersections placed on the entire race.

The Intersection requires each team to pair up with one other team and perform all tasks and make decisions together until further notice. Should there be no other teams present when a given team arrives at the Intersection Route Marker, they must wait there until another team arrives. Teams are free to choose their partner team if multiple teams are present.

Intersected Pairs

1. Redwings and RaCeDuDe + Heather and Popit *
2. JP and username + Ruth and wgal **
3. Genius and Amarillo + Xochitl and MK ***

* Redwings and RaCeDuDe chose to work with Heather and Popit with the prize they won last leg.

** JP and username and Ruth and wgal paired up automatically because no other teams were present.

*** That leaves the final Intersection pair to be Genius and Amarillo with Xochitl and MK.

Detour: Labor or Leisure

A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its own pros and cons.

In Labor, the intersected teams will have to first travel to Sugarloaf Mountain, next they will have to rappel 590-foot down Sugarloaf Mountain before they will receive their next clue.

1. Who originally devised the technique of the rappelling?
2. Name the 5 equipments worn by a rappeller to ensure his/her safety and also to prevent any injuries.
3. What does "ABCDE" means to a rapeller performing safety checks before rappelling?
4. What is the purpose of using a low-stretch rope during rappelling?
5. What is the record of the highest altitude ever attempted in rappelling?

The intersected teams will now have to correctly answer the 5 questions listed above and PM them to me. For every wrong answer, there will be a 5 minutes penalty given.

In Leisure, the intersected teams were given a red feather, where they will have to find a specific Samba Club in Rio De Janeiro. Once they arrived at the Samba Club, they would have to match the feather to one of the dancers' headdresses. That dancer would provide them with their next clue.

1. Name at least 3 versions of Samba dance.
2. Name at least 3 versions of Samba music genres.
3. Describe "Samba Bounce" with as many details as you can.
4. Name the carnival related to Samba held in Rio De Janeiro.
5. Name 10 instruments used in Samba Music.

The intersected teams will now have to correctly answer the 5 questions listed above and PM them to me. For every wrong answer, there will be a 5 minutes penalty given.

Good luck. You have 24 hours from now to complete the Detour.

Ways of getting to the Detour tasks -

Option 1: Share a taxi to Sugarloaf Mountain for R$10 from each team
Option 2: Share a taxi to Samba Club for $15 from each team

The money will be automatically deducted from whichever Detour choice the Intersected pairs decided to attempt.

TOTAL: 45 Minutes

Redwings and RaCeDuDe + Heather and Popit
+20 Minutes Travelling Time
+40 Minutes Labor

TOTAL: 60 Minutes

Genius and Amarillo + Xochitl and MK
+20 Minutes Travelling Time
+50 Minutes Labor

TOTAL: 70 Minutes

ROUTE INFO

You're now no longer bound by an Intersection. Teams must now drive themselves to the Parque Lage where they will receive their next clue.

Black Car -
White Car -
Blue Car -
Red Car -
Yellow Car -
Green Car -

- Two will have a flat tyre (+5 Minutes)
- Two will run out of petrol (+10 Mintues)
- One will breakdown (+15 Minutes)

Basically there will only be one car which will operate smoothly. Roll Eyes

Your team must now pick one of the six cars to drive yourselves to the next Route Marker.
