Ahh yes, I was trying to look for the name in AI1 profiles but didn't find it. I don't even remember watching much of AI2 at all but Frenchie suonds familiar.

I just remember she got kicked out. But did they ever put an alternate back in?

I think so. In Antonella's case they will probably replace her with the girl from last week that got the second lowest amount of votes rather than an alternate.

Frenchie never made it to the top 24, because of the incident, so technically, she wasn't replaced.

Corey Clark was kicked off in season 2 as well, if you remember. he was not replaced.

so, i think...

1) Antonella shouldn't have been there in the first place. (I can think of at least four other girls with better voices that should have made it instead.)

2) They'll kick her off but won't put in a replacement, rather, just one girl will leave.

this really sucks because there were a lot of fantastic girls who missed out on this chance of a lifetime.

They have replaced someone early on though when someone got the boot. I can't recall which it was, but it was in the top 24 I Thought, where they brought back someone who'd been eliminated the week before. I also recall they didn't put that one twin guy in who made it who was so obnoxious a season or two back because his criminal record came to light. So, they brought in an alternate from the top 30 to replace him.

I am pretty sure they will kick her off for the photos, I seem to recall Frenchie had only modeled in lingerie in hers and not gone fully nude, she didn't have anything as incriminating as shots of her doing a sex act. This girl's got some fairly graphic photos. AI made a statement about how that sort of behaviour didn't represent their image for the "American Idol" and that while they were still going to work with Frenchie, she was no longer able to participate in that competition. Somehow I don't think Antonella's gonna get the same offer of a contract, but they probably won't miss an opportunity to make a moral lesson out of this on the air.

You may be thinking of Ejay Day in AI1 who was the replacement for Delano Cagnolotti (or something like that) because he was over the age limit.

the difference is, the first round of voting has already occured, so it would be unfair to bring someone else back. it would be like a by for the first round.

A close friend of "American Idol" semi-finalist Antonelle Barba says that the aspiring singer is not the subject of some graphically sexual pictures purported to be of her that were posted on the Internet last week.

The pictures include one of four women posing topless at the beach, their hands covering their breasts, and others of a woman engaged in a sexual act. The postings were anonymous.

Barba's best friend, Amanda Coluccio of Holmdel, with whom she auditioned and won a trip to Hollywood for the second round before being eliminated, told The Star-Ledger of Newark that the less graphic photos are of Barba, but denied she is pictured in the pornographic ones.

"The really bad ones aren't her. I've studied them," Coluccio told The Star-Ledger for Monday's newspapers. "It's not her nose. She's never had (acrylic nail) tips (like the woman in the photo) in her life. She's the least slutty person I know."

Coluccio did not return phone messages from The Associated Press left at her home.

Meanwhile, here in the 20-year-old's hometown, where signs abound wishing her good luck, friends and strangers alike are supporting Barba, saving their condemnation for whomever posted the pictures online.

The fallout has many young people here thinking twice about posing for photos they thought were just to be shared among friends.

"It's the way this town is: Everybody knows everything about their friends," said Mark Dillon, 17. "At least half the people in this town have pictures of their friends on the toilet. I've personally seen at least 20. It's only because she's on TV that they're online."

Adam Bobertz, also 17, said what happened to Barba could happen to anyone.

"Everyone in this town has done something stupid at one time or another," he said.

Throughout Point Pleasant, a Jersey shore town of 18,177 about 60 miles north of Atlantic City, signs supporting Barba are many. They went up before the photos surfaced, and remain there, a symbol of her hometown's disdain for the commotion surrounding her.

Jacqui Reid, a florist whose daughter took violin lessons from Barba, said making the photos public was a gross invasion of privacy, but one that has become a fact of life in the digital age.

"Everyone has incriminating photos of one sort or another, and you never know when it's going to turn around and bite you on the you-know-what," she said. "It's a shame you can't just live your life and not have to worry about something like this becoming public.

"She's this attractive, talented girl who's also intelligent and knows where she wants to go," Reid said. "I consider her a role model for my daughter."

Even votefortheworst.com, a Web site that picks what it considers the worst American Idol contestants, said the Barba saga is sobering for young people.

"It's a real wake-up call for a lot of people," said Dave Della Terza of Chicago, who runs the site. "With the advent of MySpace and Facebook, people put photos up on the Internet and have to realize that someone you don't even know can grab these photos that you think are only going to be seen by your friends, and have them on every Web site in the world within 10 minutes."

Della Terza's site posted photos Monday that he claims confirms the woman in the sex photo is not Barba. Close-ups of the right ear of the woman in the sex photo, and a photo known to be of Barba, show differently shaped ears.

Her parents, Vincenzo and Valerie Barba, did not immediately respond to messages left on their answering machine and a letter left at their front door. A Fox publicist said the network would have no comment on the situation, and would not make any of the contestants available for interviews.

The photos capped a stressful week for Barba, who until recently had been studying architecture at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Her first performance on which viewers could vote, a rendition of Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing," was roundly panned by the judges.

Yet she made it through to the second round, and is due to perform Wednesday night with the nine other remaining female contestants.

The bj ones may not be her, the face is never entirely clear, but the one of her laying naked covered in strategically placed rose petals, or sitting in panties on a basketball & cupping her breasts are definitely her...they are easily the equal of photos of Frenchie posing in underwear. Some of those photos are clearly taken in a studio and not just candid shots.

Of course it matters to the producers of the show. What she did has brought down the reputation of the show. For example, if you are on a race team and you found out that a key member such as the crew chief was cheating you would want to possibly fire him because your reputatio has been brought down due to his actions. Firing him would nearly start a clean slate. However, what bugs me the most about this is the consistency in which the producers seem to kick people off. Frenchie is off but this woman isn't? Why is that? Shouldn't everyone be treated fairly?

Well if you take out the BJ shots, which they say they have proven isn't her and are just taken from a porno site on the net, what you're left with are pictures that you technically could find in Maxim magazine, since she's covered in rose petals or strategically cupping her breasts, etc. In none of the photos I've seen, does she actually show anything, but they are certainly very suggestive and border on pornographic. Now, I had thought Frenchie's pictures were only of her in lingerie, but according to one article I read, she had topless photos too. It's a fine line for them to stand on, but it is a line they can stand on and justify their differing actions. I personally think they should have stood firm and booted her.

I know shes not the best singer, and shes still one of my faves(lol), but she was NOT the worst last week.Her performance wasn't that bad ,and I had a feeling Alaina & Leslie would go and not her.Leslie is sorry to say, but always sort of awkward in her ways of performing, and she wasn't the best voice or the best looking, so it was like average.Plus there was one other girl who wasn't that good either, not Haley but someone else can't remember.

The problem is that she's not good enough, in comparison to some of the other women in the top 24, and she's picked really bad song choices to showcase her voice. It's easy for the vote for the worst club to push someone like her through at this stage, because everyone else's votes are still so divided. They are effective up until about the top 5 or so, when people who's favorites are already eliminated start adding their votes to their next favorite, finally giving overwhelming enough numbers to push out whoever it is they have been backing.

This has been a season of controversy for American Idol hasnt it? A few seasons ago Frenchie Davis got the boot for posing for some topless shots online. Antonella Barba had similar pictures leaked on the web. The difference is payment. Frenchie got paid and Antonella did it for fun. But that doesnt take away from the fact that the pictures are both naughty.

So what is your take on this? Is it a double standard? Does it help Antonella that she is beautiful and thin? Is it all about ratings? Are the photos HELPING her stay on the competition? BECAUSE ANTONELLAS VOICE ISNT DOING A DAMN THING FOR HER. (from popsugar)

I question whether Antonella got paid or not...some of those photos are clearly shot in a studio with a studio back-drop. Some of them are candids, but some are professionally shot. Some new photos showed up this week, leading to speculation that she's the one behind releasing them because it's boosting her call-in votes. Now, I have my doubts that she'd be doing it personally. I suspect her parents are just mortified. The question is, if AI sanctions her photos by allowing her to stay in the competition and it clearly effects her call-in votes, does this then set the bar for what future contestants will do to create buzz and votes for themselves? Does this now dirty the competition which has made a big point of keeping things wholesome and clean up till now? Because I think it will...
