John Walker Lindh has agreed to plead guilty to 2 charges in a surprise deal with prosecutors. This will spare him from life in prison. Under the terms of his deal, Lindh would serve two 10-year prison sentences and would cooperate fully with U.S. authorities in the investigation of the AlQaida and terrorism.

I am furious about this. Typical slap on the wrist for someone who IMO should, at the very least, spend the rest of his life in prison.

i hafta ask a difficult question ~ did it not go against international laws for the us to take jwl out of the middle east and back to the states? :huh: it's not that i agree in any way with what he may or may not have done...really. can someone answer me on this?

He was, if memory serves, captured in Afghanistan, and initially treated as a Prisoner of War. He is, of course, also a U.S. citizen, so I don't think "international law" applies, in any event. Of course, the Bush administration is also playing fast and loose with our Constitutional protections, so I wouldn't expect them to pay any attention to international law, anyway. :worried:
