This weeks episode is supposed to have the Amish kids deciding whether or not to go back to Amish Country, or leave their lives and families and stay in the city....

I think Miriam may stay out...just from hearing her talk...and perhaps Jonas - depending on the outcome of his GED. Mose and Randy will definately go back - and Ruth...that'll depend on her boyfriend - I think whatever he does she'll do the same.

I agree. Ruth is ready to settle down with her boyfriend and have children and talked about that a few times in the last episode. It's possible they may choose to live on a non-amish farm like they visited in the last episode, that has a very similar lifestyle, but incorporates some modern things like the electronic milkers. She likes that simple country life, but does not necessarily have any close ties to her family. She's made a lot of comments about how they were not close and loving like Whitney's family, etc.

Randy needs to go back to Amish country and marry a wife who will cook and clean for him. He will never be able to score a modern/city woman, and it's clear he rather expects that kind of lifestyle. I can't imagine why they picked him for the show other than hoping to create some conflict or excitement by having Randy and Miriam in the house together, because they used to date.

Jonas may ultimately go back to the Amish life...someday...but not any time soon. He wants to learn, he wants to go to college, he wants more than the Amish lifestyle can give him. Some day he may want less, but not until he's satisfied this thirst.

Miriam - I only see her going back because of her family. She loves them and misses them and will not be able to see them again if she does not go back. Of all the Amish she clearly fits most comfortably outside that community. She doesn't even look Amish anymore with the black leather jacket and the cigarettes. Miriam wants to taste what's outside more, but eventually she will miss her family too much.

Mose...somehow I see him as lost in the world and not really 100% comfortable in either community. I really think Mose would be happiest in life if he found a country woman and moved to a farm, but not necessarily an Amish farm. He's made several comments about how his family was not close and not loving, and several other comments that show how controlling and cold they were to him at times. On some level Mose recognizes that he's happy to be away from them and to be able to experience life. The only real "love" he's found is his love for music, which can't be satisfied or even allowed in the Amish community. Mose would do well to hook up with Jonas and get an apartment together for awhile and go to school too. I think Mose would do well to go back to a different Amish community too, away from his family but still with that same lifestyle.

Mose said his dream was to become a country music singer and he did some singing in the last episode that wasn't bad at all, to country music Nick was playing on the guitar for him. Someone commented the same thing I was saying, that if Mose goes back, he would be happier if he found a different Amish community to settle down in than the one he was in. There is an article posted below this one, mostly about Mose and it's fairly interesting, talks about a run-in he's had with Amish kids since then, etc. I think they will find it hard to go back to the Amish community after this.

It was on UPN, but the finale was this week, so it's already gone. However they are talking about doing a reunion show as well as in talks with Mose, one of the Amish boys, for a follow up show on him. Considering he was definitely the star of the show, I'm sure they'll get repeat viewers back to watch that.
