Arriving in Galle at 3.30pm, JP and KL as well as Heather and Popit took the tuk tuks and battled their way through the crowded streets.

The two teams reached the fort at the same time, but JP and KL arrived at the cluebox in first place to discover an Intersection and a Detour.

ROUTE INFO

This is the last of only two Intersections placed on the entire race.

The Intersection requires each team to pair up with one other team and perform all tasks and make decisions together until further notice. Should there be no other teams present when a given team arrives at the Intersection Route Marker, they must wait there until another team arrives. Teams are free to choose their partner team if multiple teams are present.

Having decided on their Intersected pair, JP and KL as well as Heather and Popit read their Detour clue.

Detour: Tree Trunks or Elephant Trunks

Teams choosing Tree Trunks must travel two miles by tuk tuk to a coconut plantation. Once there, they must climb to the top of a 50-foot coconut tree, traverse the rope walkway and pick up a small jug filled with sap for making local liquor. The Intersected pair will receive their next clue after both teams have retrieve a sap-filled jug.

You must complete your OWN action listed by changing the 'O' to an 'X'. You can only vote once every 4 hours. You do not have to wait for the other Intersected team members to finish an action before you can move on to the next action. If your Intersected pair choose to perform this Detour, just copy and paste your own actions and leave the other Intersected pair's one aside.

Teams opting for Elephant Trunks must travel 2.5 miles by tuk tuk to an elephant polo field. Then, each Team member, one at a time, must ride an elephant down the length of the field while dribbling a ball with a polo mallet, maneuver the ball around a pole, return up the length of the field, and shoot a goal. The Intersected pair will receive their next clue once all 4 team members have completed the task.

1. Name 2 other countries besides India, with Elephant Polo available as a sport.
2. How long is a proper Elephant Polo pitch?
3. What are the people who steer the elephants during the game called?
4. Where did Elephant Polo originated from?
5. Which country is the reigning champion of the World Elephant Polo Association in 2006?

Teams must now find the answers to these five simple questions and get every member of the Intersected pair to send it in to me via PM.

Teams completed the Detour in the following order -

30 Minutes

Ruth and wgal + Genius and Amarillo
45 Minutes

Completing the Detour in first place, Heather and Popit and JP and KL received their next clue.

You are no longer bound by the Intersection.

Teams must now travel 70 miles by bus to the Kandyan Art Association in the city of Kandy. Once there, they must purchase an offering and present it to a monk in the nearby Temple of the Tooth in exchange for their next clue.
