Amazing Mini Race - Route Info (P.18)

As some Forumsnet members are waiting for the start of 'The Amazing Race Victor Edition Season 4' which will not be held in the near future because the host (that's me Cool) is busy in preparation for his university entrance exam, I decide to host this quick mini race.
 
This race will only consist 1 extra-lengthed leg which includes the following:
Route Infos (as usual)
2 Detours
2 Roadblocks (1 Challenge, 1 Thief)
1 Yield
1 U-Turn
1 Skip (a task coming with Detour/Roadblock which works like Fast Forward, but Skip would let you skip few tasks ahead instead of directing you to pit stop)
1 Reverse
1 Obstacle (works like a SpeedBump which only 1 team need to complete, but this will be a courtesy from another team)
1 Roadblock Setting
1 Diverge/Converge
1 Intersection
also with some brand new clues for you to explore
last but not least: 1 final pit stop and 1 CHAMPION TEAM!
 
Each team would have 1 courtesy photo of themselves, which can be used at Yield, U-Turn, Skip and Obstacle. You would need to decide when is the best time to use it since you only have 1 single chance.
 
Note: This will be a task-and-PM based game, not regular posting game.

In order to join this special race, you need to form a team of 2 and sign up by putting your team in next available slot under 'TEAMS'.  
If you couldn't find any partner, you could place your name under 'I NEED A PARTNER' and ask others on the same list whether to team up with you or not.

Sure, Genius.
There will be 2 Roadblocks in the race, namely Challenge Roadblock and Thief Roadblock.
In a Challenge Roadblock, 2 teams (or more) will compete with one another. Winning team can retrieve their next clue right away while the losing team will need to wait 15 minutes before they can continue racing.
In a Thief Roadblock, teams will need to do a score based task and money will be deducted from each team according to their score.
A Reverse is a clue appearing at the same time with Roadblock, by going for the Reverse instead of the Roadblock, you will have a time credit instead of having time added on you. However, Reverse task is usually more difficult and failing to complete it will lead you to a time penalty. (30-minute penalty still applies between the switch between Reverse to Roadblock if one failed to complete the Reverse task)
Roadblock Setting is a place where teams can set a Roadblock and the teams behind them need to complete an extra task before continuing in the normal racecourse. However, the team which is setting the Roadblock would need to complete a small task before they can 'set' the Roadblock.
A Diverge is a place where a team is split into individuals and need to complete different sets of tasks until the Converge point.

In order to excel in the race, you need to get along well with your partner.
In this pre-race twist, you will be tested on how well you know your partner.
 
Post a description/your feelings/expectations of/on your partner before the race starts (most probably 16 Dec GMT+0800).
 
Winning team would be given an extra sum of $20 in the race!
 
Also, you can post quotes too!

Well, I'm the first to post this, so I don't know if I'll do well...
 
I think Redwings is quite an intelligent guy, very friendly (organizes another race by himself an another good guy) and kind (that's what I think).
 
I really hope he is as competitive as me, and if he is, make sure we'll be in the final three!

I think eragon is a fun user and is active on the boards so we can do well. I hope eragon is a good decision maker because I am not that good at making decisions. I expect eragon to be as good here as he is in my races and I think we can get a high position in the race. I don't know what else to say but I WANT $20!!!

I think Mitch will be a great partner and will know how to calm me down. I don't really know much about Mitch, so I guess you can say we'll be that kind of long-distance friendship in this race, not knowing much about each other. I think we should mesh fine and be able to run a good race.

I really think Sam is a great guy and a great racer... he's doing the best he could in every task and I'm so much looking forward to work with him. Sam is doing incredibly perfect, he's tough, he's competitive. The time zones are perfect for our team because he's here when I'm still sleeping and vice-versa, so I think it's one of our advantage. I just hope that our teamwork will gonna work out in this race to win this!

As I see many of the teams have posted their pre-race twist entries, I am posting mine here.
 
In the recent history of Fantasy Amazing Race games, this is the only single-legged game.
The reasons why I am hosting this kind of games are:
1. Main reason is that I am too busy to host a full-lengthed (13-leg race) and many players want me to host a race, so a quick race would fit all of us.
2. All players can run the entire leg, no eliminations!
3. It would be more intense and exciting.
 
In this race, I would like to see everyone racing at their very best to cross the Finish Line first. Remember, in Vicdemort's races, everything is impossible, you can catch up at any time, all you need to do is not to give up!
 
Last but not least, I am here hope all of you would have a fun game and enjoyable time!
 
Now let's gather at the Starting Line!

Fly to Hong Kong.
 
Once there, take the Airport Express to Tung Chung and ride on a bus to Ngong Ping, Starting Line of the race.

The race will start off in a second in Ngong Ping, New Territories, Hong Kong. This is a new tourist spot in Hong Kong, courtesy of Ngong Ping 360 which brought tourists to this deserted land. And it serves as the Starting Line of The Amazing Mini Race.

In a minute, you will be going for a race of a lifetime. There will only be 1 leg, no elimination points. You will need to follow the instructions given by your clue and race to the Finish Line. First team crossing the Finish Line will be declared as the official winner of Amazing Mini Race. I will be giving command and you can run to your backpacks and open the clue on top which gives you further instructions.

Take Ngong Ping 360 and search for your next clue under the foot of Big Buddha.
 
Task: PM me the proper name of Big Buddha.
 
You have $100 for this leg.
 
Deadline: 15-12-08 12:00PM (GMT+8:00) This deadline is a little bit late, but I am giving more time for people to warm up. However, if all teams complete the task before then, I would still update the game with next clue.

Head to the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi) nearby.
 
Take a short course on hotel accommodation.  
 
Next, go back to this room and tidy it.  
 
Once done, report to the hotel manager.
 
You will receive your next clue if he is satisfied with your work.
 
Task: PM me the former name of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi).

I think I would just merely add 15 minutes to everyone, to make the Finish Line more concise, or else...
Victor and Vicdemort, you are first team to arrive. However, you took a taxi/van instead of a bus in the 2nd Route Info, you now incur a 15-minute penalty, please step off the mat.

Alternating Runs
 
This is a special kind of task you need to perform before you can get your next clue.
 
Each of you get a set of questions/tasks through PM.
 
But they are alternating, one team member will get all odd number tasks while another will get even ones.
 
While one team member is doing his task, another team member must wait at a designated area for his/her teammate.
 
You need to solve them one by one, i.e. You need to know answer of Q.1 before you can answer Q.2, the last question will lead you to your next clue.
 
Task: PM me the final answer.
 
Note: Do NOT send ANY of the questions to your partner, offenders may be penalized.
 
I will be sending the questions in few minutes.

Detour
 
Shuttle It or Shout to Them
 
In Shuttle It, you must play a game of badminton against a team member of Hong Kong badminton team.
 
Once you have scored 5 points, you will be rewarded with your next clue from him.
 
This task seems takes shorter time to complete, however teams not agile enough may find themselves stuck here forever.
 
Task: PM me the number of indoor air-condintioned badminton courts in WAN CHAI. (Remember to include every single badminton courts in Wan Chai district.)
 
In Shout to Them, make your way to the auditorium.
 
Next, you must coordinate hundreds of audience to their seats according to their tickets.
 
Once finished, go onstage and perform a 3-minute stand-up comedy.
 
Upon completion, you can go to backstage and collect your next clue.
 
This task doesn’t require any physical strength or skill. Teams with good coordination would find themselves in a huge lead.
 
Task: PM me a original joke from your team, do NOT copy from the Internet. Time added will be based on the creativity and how funny the joke is.

Amazing Mini Race - Thief Roadblock

Roadblock (Thief)
 
Who has a sense of coordination?
 
Lead one of the locals in the park to the entrance and find a marked pedicab.
 
Next, take the passenger on pedicab to Farol da Guia.
 
Once there, search through the base of the lighthouse for your next clue.
 
Task: Find a map and mark the route to Farol da Guia. Time used will NOT be decided by order of PM, but the accuracy, length of route and clarity.
 
Since this is a Thief Roadblock, different amount of money will be taken from you as the rent of the pedicab according to the duration you are using it.
 
Remark: Each team member can only do 1 Roadblock.

4-Way Detour
 
Devil or Devoir or The Food or Die Da
 
In this 4-Way Detour, you need to pick either 2 of the 4 tasks, upon completion of each task, you will be rewarded with a chip.
 
Bring the chips to Casa Real Casino in exchange for your next clue.
 
In Devil, you must help to place 3 items for Feng-shui in the building accordingly with the aid of a book.
 
Once completed, you will be rewarded with a chip.
 
Task: PM me which nature the following symbol symbolizes.

 
In Devoir, make your way to the ground outside the building.
 
Then learn 7 moves of the Yang Style Tai Chi and perform them in a row.
 
Once your instructor is satisfied, you will receive a chip.  
 
Task: PM me 7 moves of the simplified form of Yang Style Tai Chi.
 
In The Food, make your way to a marked food store.
 
Once there, you must give 3 passerby advise on Chinese food therapy.
 
You may retrieve a chip from the store when completed.
 
Task: PM me what you should eat after excessive intake of lychee.
 
In Die Da, make your way to a Die Da clinic nearby and help 10 patients getting from outside into the shop.  
 
You need to do it all over again if the wounded leg of the patient touches the ground.
 
Once completed, you will receive a chip.
 
Task: PM another name for Die Da.

Skip / Route Info
This is the only Skip in the entire racecourse.
 
Only ONE team could utilize it and both pre-intersection teams must use their courtesy photo. If any of the pre-intersection teams have used their courtesy photo, their intersected team could NOT go for the Skip.
 
Having won the Skip, the intersected team could skip next few tasks until further specified.
 
However, here are the tricks.
 
Since only ONE team could get it, if your team go for it but miss, then going back to the normal racecourse, you will encounter a 15-minute time delay for attempting the Skip task.
 
You are encouraged to submit both Skip and Route Info answers if you are going for the Skip.
 
Skip
 
In Skip, you must help the Macau government to measure the length and width of the Rua de Cinco de Outubro.
 
Upon completion, you will receive your clue.
 
Task: Take Rua de Cinco de Outubro as a rectangle. ALL 4 team members have to PM me the area of the street in square meters. (Round off to nearest square meter)
 
Route Info
 
In Route Info, make your way to Fung Shing Chu Kei Noodle Expert.
 
Collect your next clue outside the restaurant.
 
Task: ONE player from EACH pre-intersection teams must PM me the address of the restaurant.

Roadblock
 
One pre-intersection team must make 5 bowls of Lamian under supervision of a Chinese cook.
 
Once he is satisfied, another pre-intersection team have to sell the Lamian at a price of $10 each.
 
Once done, you will receive your next clue and can keep the money earned. ($25 for each pre-intersection team)
 
Task: ONE team member from each pre-intersection teams must PM me the answer of either ONE of the two questions.
 
1. Briefly describe the hand-making process of Lamian.
 
2. What does Lamian usually serve with?  
 
Note:  
1. Team winning the Skip does not need to do this task.
2. This task does NOT count in the Roadblock tally.

Teams can work for money with a good payment.
 
In this Gold Mine, teams need to make their way to Venetian Macau Resort Hotel and work as a salesperson.
 
Teams not going for the Gold Mine can proceed to next destination.
 
Task: PM me how long you want to work.
 
Income Calculation:
First 15 minutes: 1 minute = $1
Next 15 minutes: 1 minute = $1.5
Following: 1 minute = $2
 
Other Notes:
Time required in transportation: 10 minutes

Teams could yield teams behind them, forcing them to turn over an hour-glass and wait until the sand runs out before continuing in the race.

Detour
 
Wheel or Reel
 
In Wheel, make your way to Grand Prix Museum.
 
Once there, both team members must ride in a simulation Grand Prix.
 
At the Finish Line of the simulation, you will be hinted on your next destination.
 
Task: PM me the entrance fee of ONE adult.
 
In Reel, make your way to Museu dos Bombeiros (Fire Services Museum in English).
 
Then you must reel 3 hoses of 10 meters each into correct positions.
 
Upon completion, you will be hinted on your next destination on the markings on the hose.
 
Task: PM me the year of production of the British water pump in the main exhibition hall.

Make your way to your next destination and watch a cybernetic fountain laser performance.
 
After the show ended, row a boat to the place where the spout which ejects the highest water jet is located and retrieve your next clue.
 
Tasks:  
1. PM me the name of your destination.
2. PM me the next MUSIC performance available. (You need to refer to your current time in the leaderboard. Assume it is Sunday.)
