Grindhouse: Death Proof

A Quentin Tarantino film. It's rated quite high in IMDB so I checked it out. It was originally paired with a film by Robert (?) Rodriguez titled Planet Terror and released as "Grindhouse", but each movie can stand on its own I believe.

So back to Death Proof. I chuckled a bit with how they made the movie look old, and how they did some deliberate (I think) "mis-editing". The first 30 minutes or so were kind of boring, all talk! Then some interesting scenes, which kind of put me on edge for the rest of the movie, so even though a scene was/should have been boring, I wasn't bored, because I was expecting something else to happen. The climax was awesome. Grin

There were some gore and violence, but if you love those, then you should see this movie. (although you have to survive the first 30-40 minutes of boredom)

If you're a fan of zombie movies, then you should watch this. Again, they made the movie look old. Not sure if they intended people to laugh at the movie, but I laughed my way to the end. It's just so silly! But I didn't laugh because I thought the movie was stupid, I laughed because ... maybe because the movie seems to be poking at zombie movies in general. Anyway, this is entertaining from start to finish, although it didn't bring out in me the same triumphant emotion in the end of the movie like what Death Proof did.

Watch out for some of the characters, some of them were in Death Proof. I think those movies were set in the same "universe" so to speak.

The Golden Compass - not a great movie, but it's good enough. Since it's a fantasy story, there were lots of new words to learn, so you can't help but pay attention to what everyone in the film is saying, which sometimes feels like you're in a class. The action scenes were great as usual.

Also, the movie is taken from the first book of a TRILOGY. So ... there. (it's a hint)

Enchanted - I loved it. The music was great, it was so well thought out. The characters had great personalities, and it was great to see a Disney movie gone wrong. Loved the ending, by the way.
I'd give it a 9 or 9.5 out of 10. Cool
