CBS' "The Survivor Race"

Okay, so Les Moonves has come up with his worst ratings scam yet. He decided it would be fun to combine previous Survivor and Amazing Racers together for "The Survivor Race". Here's how it works: We take 16 contestants. Each day, you vote on who should stay and who should go. Teams are divided into two tribes and will compete for Immunity: (I'll determine this myself by rolling a dice.) The losing tribe will be sent to tribal council and you will simply write the name of the contestant who you want voted off. Once four contestants are knocked off, there will be a twist. The reamaining six members of each tribe will merge with each other into teams of two. Then, they will race around the world for the $2 million prize! Ready? Here's the location: India. Here's the tribes:

-Richard "Borneo"
-Jonathan "TAR 6"

-Rudy "Borneo"

LET'S PLAY!!! Tribes have been dropped off in a remote jungle in India, soon the remaining twelve will race around the globe.

The first Immunity Challenge forced tribes to build a ladder out of wood and string that they could climb to the top of an elephant. Once built, four members had to ride atop the elephant while the other four led the elephant to a sacred Indian site. Inside, teams climbed their makeshift ladder to the top of the sacred site where they received Immunity. Wondering who won? Team Agra! So, look at the list of Team Jaipur. Then simply type the name of the contestant you want to vote off. The first ten responses I get are the ones I will count.

Tribal Council ended with an uproar. Flo broke down in tears and yelled at Johnny Fairplay. She told the others that he was a conniving liar and not to trust him. However, the tribe stuck with their initial alliance and opted to vote out Flo, the worser of two evils. 7 tribe members are left in JAIPUR. Who will be voted out NEXT?

On the next episode of "The Survivor Race": One tribe encounters a deadly snake in the Indian jungles. The other tribe faces a broken alliance. Both teams compete in the battle for Immunity causing tempers to soar.

In this Immunity Challenge, teams were faced with a puzzle that would test their endurance both physically and mentally. In it, one member had to figure out what the puzzle was and how to get it in the right order. The other six had to pull the pieces where they were directed through a muddy swamp. And the winner of this Immunity Challenge is.......

Team JAIPUR!

That means AGRA will be sent to Tribal Council this week. Now it's your turn to vote......but there's a twist, now I will be only be counting the first NINE votes, I will make the tenth vote myself.
Feel free throughout the duration of this game to glorify/bash contestants, make alliances with each other, give me ideas, etc.

Jonathan's constant degrading of other tribemate's infuriated the tribe leader, Ethan. He quickly schemed and plotted against Jonathan. Others joined in, readily willing to vote him out. Afterall, Jonathan had not contributed one positive thing to the tribe. However, Richard Hatch wasn't completely out of trouble. Many also hated his cockiness and nakedness. Members told him to watch out, if they lose Immunity again...he's the next one out.

This week temper's flared in AGRA. Karen and Lillian's alliance to oust Jenna was discovered. However, when Jenna told others of this scheme, they told Jenna that Karen and Lillian were just playing the game. Jenna said she deserved to be treated better because she was the winner of SURVIVOR: Amazon and was on the cover of Playboy. That didn't impress anybody. In fact, it annoyed everybody. So, when it came time for the Immunity Challenge, Jenna refused to participate until she received an apology. Fortunately AGRA had other strong players and they didn't suffer from the lack of help from Jenna. (Not that there had been much to begin with...) In the end, AGRA won their second Immunity and became safe from Tribal Council. JAIPUR was sent to their second Tribal Council. Who will be voted out...NEXT?

Once again the votes at Tribal Council were unsurprising. There were no surprise twists. Try as he might, Johnny Fairplay couldn't escape his fate. After Tribal Council, new alliances were formed. Gretchen, Neleh, and Charla stuck with an all-female alliance, but also recruited Brian...just in case. Their next target? Rupert....

Ironically, on AGRA, the women get the same idea. Lillian, Karen, and Kelly all form an alliance to get rid of Richard Hatch. However, they can't completely get Derek or Ethan to join the alliance. Tribal Council comes and the teams must build a tower tall enough to reach a flag, 20 feet above. Once the tower is built, all members of the teams must ascend the tower with a torch and burn their tribe flag. The first team who burns their flag wins. And the winner of the fourth and final Immunity is.....

JAIPUR!

Now you decide which contestant of "The Survivor Race" should be the last one voted off. After this voting, the dynamics of the Race will completely change. So, who don't you want to see participate in the Race?

JVJKJ630, I'm glad you like this game. Also, I'm glad you're expressing your opinion...but I have actually known Lillian for years. The way she came across on Pearl Islands is completely different from how she is in real life. She is one of the most friendly, most caring, and (believe it or not) strongest people I know. I just wanted to clear that up...she's really a good person.

Don't get me wrong, I probably wouldn't be a fan of Lill if I didn't know her myself...but I do, and she's a totally awesome lady. That's why I've decided to give all reality show contestants the benefit of the doubt (well except for Jonathan, he was an authentic a-hole). You can never trust the editing, although I admit that's what makes good TV. She told me once about how hard it is to read the mean things about her on the Internet, and so I try to stick up for her. Hmmm...that's interesting about lakelady though.

Actually, the first time I saw Lill I pegged her to go far (same with Burton). When they got voted off, I just shrugged my shoulders, another prediction wrong. Imagine my surprise that she came back to the game and went all the way to Final 2. I guess she did something right.

Oh, and I do not dislike Lill. That vote was made by Richard. Cheesy

(actually, I don't want to see a landslide vote, so I threw out a vote to Lill.

Teams arrived hot, exhausted, and weary as they anticipated their next Immunity Challenge. Little did they know what would happen next. Jeff Probst suddenly vanished into the jungle and wouldn't you know it....out walked Phil Keoghan! "Tribes, this game is about to change drastically in just a few minutes," he said. Then he called forward two names. (I randomly picked two names out of a hat, in case you're wondering how I paired teams.) The names were:
Charla and Ethan
They became the first team
Next was:
Karen and Kelly
Then:
Neleh and Gretchen
Then:
Derek and Jenna
Then:
Rupert and Rudy
Then:
Lillian and Brian

He then handed each team member their passport and gave Gretchen and Rudy their "meds". Next he pointed toward the top of a palm tree where six clues dangled from the leaves. He raised his hand and eyebrow, said "the world is waiting for you," and then the Race began! Teams dashed forward...

The teams ripped open their clues to find out what would happen next. They were instructed to make their way to the Mumbai Int'l Airport. They had no money, no backpacks, and no idea where in India they were. The strongest team, Derek and Jenna, set off down a jagged path. Other teams followed. After hours of running and panting, the teams came across an Indian village. They quickly began screaming at the top of their lungs for a ride to Mumbai. As it ended up, all teams rode in the back of two trucks loaded with chickens and goats. Roughly six hours later they were in Mumbai.

Okay, this is how elimination works. Rate all six teams from 1 (needs to go)-10 (keep them on!). There will be three eliminations and three non-eliminations. I will determine the non-elims with a dice to remain unbiased. So, rate the contestants from 1-10 and stay tuned...because there's a twist!

As we all know, a lot of who wins TAR is based on luck. So, I have made up six cards, some are good and some are bad. I will randomly draw out a card and a team name and place them together. For example: I just pulled Karen/Kelly out of one hat. Then I pulled out a card that said, "A local helps this team to the Pitstop. Add 2 points." So, Karen/Kelly's mean score is raised from 5.4 points, to 7.4 points. Once I've done this with all the teams, the team with the lowest mean score MAY get eliminated. I will choose whether or not this is an elimination from yet another hat. I won't post the results for a little bit longer, so, while you're waiting please let me know that you understand this twist. If anything is unclear, please let me know! Thanks!

Once teams reached Mumbai they were instructed to fly to Bamako, Mali. There was only one flight to Bamako and all teams boarded that flight. Upon arrival in Bamako teams purchased tickets on one of two buses to Timbuktu, one of the most remote cities on Earth. The first bus left at 11:24 AM. On it were Derek/Jenna and Kelly/Karen. The second bus left at 1: 19 PM. Charla/Ethan, Lill/Brian, Rupert/Rudy, and Neleh/Gretchen were on it. The cramped bus ride lasted 27 hours and teams were surrounded by livestock and "sketchy" locals as Jenna put it. No meals were served on the bus, so at fuel stops teams begged for food. Upon arrival, teams raced through a detour and a roadblock toward the Pitstop.

Here are the results:

1st Place: Derek and Jenna: 8.9 points
2nd Place: Karen and Kelly: 7.4 points
3rd Place: Charla and Ethan: 6.5 points
4th Place: Neleh and Gretchen: 6 points
5th Place: Brian and Lill: 5.4 points
Last Place and the First Team eliminated from the Race: Rudy/Rupert: 2.8 points

Some clarification:

In the rules I said that I would add up the mean score's of how voters scaled the teams. Then, since a lot of TAR is based on luck, I would add a luck portion to it. There were six cards: +1, +2, +3, -1, -2, -3 points. Then I randomly drew out the name of a team. Example: Charla and Ethan had a mean score of 8.5 based on how voters ranked the teams. Then I randomly pulled out the -2 card. So their mean score became 6.5. (I hope that made sense.)

I swear I'm not biased toward any team. If I controlled the outcome of the game, what would be the purpose of the game? I don't have any more control over the game than any of you do. But hey, I'm glad you're all enjoying the game. Thanks!!!

P.S. FYI, I'm not rooting for Kelly/Karen. I'm rooting for Neleh/Gretchen. I have no more control over how the teams do than any of you.

2nd leg:

Teams headed out from Timbuktu and were instructed to make their way back to the capital of Bamako. This time, rather than take a 27 hour bus ride, there would be charter flights. The first would leave at 3:00 and the second at 4:00. The first two teams, Derek/Jenna and Karen/Kelly signed up for Charter #1. The last three teams ended up on Charter #2. Upon arrival at Bamako airport, teams learned they must fly to Rome, Italy, where their next clue awaited them. Teams scattered looking for the quickest flight. Charla/Ethan and Neleh/Gretchen ended up on a flight that arrived earliest. Kelly/Karen and Brian/Lill boarded another flight that arrived fifteen minutes later. Derek/Jenna ended up on a flight that arrived forty-five minutes after the first flight. Flights connected through Paris, France and Zurich, Switzerland.

Okay, let's start rating the final five teams. Remember 1 is lowest, 10 is highest. Rank now!!!

Upon arrival in Rome, teams learned they had to make their way to the Holy See, or Vatican City. Inside was the first Roadblock. One member of each team had to search through hundreds of ancient, dusty books for their next clue. A yelling fight soon took place between Jenna and Charla about a certain book. Their voices echoed through the corridors and they were quickly reprimanded by some nearby priests. Lillian was the first to find the clue. Teams searched high and low and eventually all found the clue. All teams raced through the Detour and headed towards the Sistine Chapel. Phil pointed out to the Swiss Guard the coming team. Upon arrival, team number one eagerly looked at Phil and the unusually dressed Swiss Guard. "Welcome...to Vatican City!"

Who will be team number one?
And who will be eliminated next?

FYI, I've decided not to go into detail about all roadblocks, detours, flights, taxis, etc. because that makes the stories too long. So, each leg I've decided to focus on a certain part of that Race. Eventually I'll cover all "stereotypical" things that happen on TAR.

3rd: Derek/Jenna: 6.2 points
4th: Charla/Ethan: 5.5 points
Last: Karen/Kelly

Phil, looked at the team and said, "Karen and Kelly, you're the last team to arrive..............

I'm pleased to tell you however, this is a non-elimination leg. You're still in the Race." Then he took all of their money they had accumulated so far. He didn't take their belongings because they didn't have any. (Remember how teams were only given their passports at the beginning of the Race.)

As the third leg of the Race began teams learned that their next destination was Helskinki, Finland. All teams eventually found flights and jetted off into this Scandinavian country. By now, the true personalities of each team were beginning to become more evident. Karen/Kelly were both polite, sincere, and admirable. However, the pressure of the Race quickly got to both of them and they began to become more stressed and tired of each other. Charla/Ethan were both fairly happy-go-lucky and just plain lucky. Luck had played a huge part in their Race so far, but neither had really been grateful for the luck. Neleh/Gretchen were certainly the underdogs, but kept putting along and were admired by legions of fans. The fact that they were both an all-female team and that Gretchen was pushing 67 was indeed commendable. However, other teams disliked the fact that this team was so likable. Brian/Lill were polar opposites. While Brian maintained his sense of humor, Lill was prone to mental breakdowns in which she would cry uncontrolably. Their teamwork was in peril, but they both remained adamant that they would win. Finally, Derek/Jenna were by far the strongest team left. Their strength was also their downfall as they bickered constantly. They were the "unlikable model team" of this season.

Teams raced through the arctic tundra of Finland to the scenic village of Rovaniemi, which was the pit-stop for this leg of the Race. Derek/Jenna had no remorse for their elders as they plowed right past Gretchen on a snowmobile, causing her to lose her balance and fall off the snowmobile. Neleh helped her up and immediately revved the engine, doing everything in her power to beat "the models". Derek/Jenna were so taken aback by Neleh's competitiveness that they watched her plow by while they ran into a snowbank. This put them way behind the pack, all except for Brian/Lill who had been struggling throughout this leg of the Race. Who would be in last? And would they be eliminated?

Teams arrived in this order:

1st: Charla/Ethan: 10.4
2nd: Gretchen/Neleh: 10.0
3rd: Karen/Kelly: 5.7
4th: Derek/Jenna: 3.5
Last team to arrive: Brian/Lill: 2.8

Phil said, "Brian and Lill, you are the last team to arrive.....I'm sorry to tell you, you've both been eliminated from the Race."

Karen/Kelly, Gretchen/Neleh, and Charla/Ethan plotted to get rid of Derek/Jenna. Luckily for the other teams, Derek/Jenna's plane was delayed and upon arrival at the detour, they learned they had been yielded by Charla/Ethan (although all the teams had been a part of it.) In the detour, teams had to choose between two Costa Rican activities: High or Low. In High: teams would make their way a hundred feet above the ground and zipline down a jungle mountain above the rainforest canopy. The task was relatively quick, but was also terrifying. In Low: teams would make their way along a nature path and had to identify five species of animals. There was nothing terrifying about the task, but finding and identifying five species of animals could take a long time. Not surprisingly, all teams opted for High and swung down the mountain to their next clue where they learned the location of their next pit stop: the Selva Verde Nature Lodge. All teams raced to the pit stop, even with the yield Derek/Jenna were close to catching up with the crowd.

Gretchen/Neleh reached the Pit Stop first and were each rewarded a brand new Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Karen/Kelly came in second. There was a literal foot race to the finish. Derek/Jenna were several hundred feet behind, but due to Charla's height, they were able to close the gap. Then, Jenna purposely tripped Charla, causing Derek/Jenna to narrowly escape last place. Upon arrival at the mat at Selva Verde Lodge, Phil asked Jenna what had happened. Jenna being the model she was, denied the incident and said it was a complete accident.

Here are the mean scores of each team with the "wild cards"

1st: Gretchen/Neleh 8.3
2nd: Karen/Kelly 6.3
3rd: Derek/Jenna 4.8
Last: Charla/Ethan 4.8

(Note: There was a tie with these teams, and so I rolled a dice to see which team would come in last.)

Phil looked at the last team and said, "Charla and Ethan, you're the last team to arrive.........

I'm pleased to tell you however, that this is the second of three non-elimination legs. You're still in, "The Amazing Race."

Early the next morning, teams headed out of the Costa Rican jungle where they learned that the next destination was Stuttgart, Germany. Teams were all surprised by this twist. They had just flown 7,000 miles from Europe to Costa Rica, and now they would fly 7,000 miles back to Europe. Upon arrival in Stuttgart, teams were given a detour. In it, one member of the team was given a picture of a Porsche and then had to search through the Porsche museum for the exact same car. However, there was also the FastForward option. Neleh/Gretchen and Derek/Jenna headed out for the FastForward. Kelly and Charla opted to do the Detour. Teams going for the FastForward had to make their way by Haptbahnhof (underground train) to the world famous Radio Tower. There they had to bungee jump off the top. Neleh/Gretchen rushed from the Feursee station and headed towards Degerloo station. Derek/Jenna headed towards Sudheimer Platz. Jenna seemed unsure of their decision, "Shouldn't we follow Neleh and Gretchen?" Derek said, "Are you joking? Follow the blonde and the old lady? Yeah right!" However, they were mistaken and Neleh/Gretchen beat out Derek/Jenna. Back at the detour, Kelly and Charla both found their Porsche's relatively quickly and went to the Roadblock which they also accomplished quickly, although Derek/Jenna once again made up a lot of ground and were soon caught up. Neleh/Gretchen were the first team to arrive. At the mat, Phil had news for them. "Neleh and Gretchen, I have three amazing things to tell you. Number one, you are the first all-female team to make it to this stage of the game. Number two, Gretchen, you are the oldest competitor to make it to this point in the game. Number three, you are the first all-female team to come in first place more than once." They cheered and hugged.
   Charla/Ethan were 2nd. They also cheered and hugged. "I never knew Charla was so capable," Ethan said. "I never knew I could meet such a hottie who was also soooo nice," Charla said.
   So, it came down to yet another foot race to the finish. Who would be eliminated?....................

   Karen/Kelly rushed to the mat, seconds before Derek/Jenna. Thus, Derek/Jenna's amazing race ended. Derek once again was forced to settle for a fourth place finish. Jenna had a tantrum and demanded they be let back in. Unfortunately/fortunately (depending on how you look at it) that didn't happen and they were axed from the competition. So, Karen/Kelly also made history as yet another all-female team made it to the Final 3.

This game was rigged up, I can see. No doubt about that!

Karen/Kelly should've been out by now, seeing as they kept getting low scores but were made higher by wild cards every time.

You know, people telling me that this game is rigged is a real pet-peeve of mine. I do however realize that it looks "rigged". But, what can I say? When I first came up with the "wild card" idea, I figured no matter what I did, there would always be somebody who believed that I was not going to play fair. But, I also didn't want this game to be a popularity contest and had to find some way to mess with the scores. This game was in no way rigged. It's the luck of the draw, and I'll admit Karen/Kelly have been EXTREMELY lucky, but nothing else. It's also true that I personally like Karen/Kelly better than Derek/Jenna, but that had NOTHING to do with these votes. If any of you feel that this game is rigged, please feel free to stop your participation, but PLEASE DON'T tell me that I am playing unfair..... because that's entirely false! Thanks!!!

Thanks everyone! I truly do appreciate that you believe me. Now, let's get onto the next leg....

Teams headed out from Stuttgart and read the clue telling them to fly to Singapore. As luck would have it all three teams made the same flight and nearly 20 hours later, ended up in the tiny country of Singapore. "Look at these buildings! They're amazing!" Neleh gasped at the incredible architecture. They raced toward their next clue, which was a roadblock. Gretchen, Ethan, and Kelly opted to do it. It required the participant to repel down a 90 storey building and grab 9 flags on the way down. Not surprisingly, Ethan completed the task first, followed by Kelly, and eventually Gretchen. Off the teams went with their next clue....

Teams received their next clue instructing them to fly to Dulles Airport in Washington D.C. There teams rode the Metro to the Smithsonian where they had to find "Old Glory" and receive their final clue. Neleh/Gretchen were ahead with a huge advantage having cleared customs ten minutes before the other teams. However, they had to wait ten minutes for the Metro causing Charla/Ethan to catch up, followed closely by Kelly/Karen. While waiting, Kelly said, "Ya'll know, Ah am so glad this Race is almost over. Ah must smell absolootely awful." Indeed, all the teams did reek significantly. They hadn't changed clothes since their first day on Survivor due to lack of money and other teams willing to give their own clothes away. At least this odor caused curious onlookers to stay a safe distance away, making spoilers for this season harder to come by. As soon as the Metro stopped the Race to "Old Glory" was on. Kelly/Karen were out first and ran the fastest. Gretchen/Neleh couldn't run quite as fast given the fact that Gretchen was pushing 70 years old. Lastly came Charla/Ethan bringing up the rear. Unfortunately, Charla just couldn't run as fast as her competitors. However, Ethan finally picked Charla up, swung her over his shoulders and sprinted off. (Seeing as teams didn't have backpacks, Ethan carried Charla instead of a backpack. Cheesy

) Kelly/Karen read their clue....."Make your way to the final Pit Stop- the Washington Monument. Go go go!!!" Charla/Ethan were nano-seconds behind.... Neleh/Gretchen were seconds behind.... Teams rushed out of the Museum and down the infamous "mall" toward the even more infamous "Washington Monument." They were a hundred yards away....it was anybody's game....

Unfortunately, my favorite team lost too. I had nothing against Charla/Ethan....but personally I would have loved it to be Neleh/Gretchen instead. Oh well, that's how the "wild cards" work. Oh well, forever Neleh/Gretchen will be the best team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long live Neleh/Gretchen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am surprised that you somehow think that sk's attitude reflects that of the whole Philippines. I agree that sk seems to not like how his favorite team got eliminated, but I do not like how Amazing Race talks turn to political/cultural ones.
